Raspberry canes!

Hi neighbors- I’ve done a spring yard cleanup, and I have some lovely and hardy raspberry canes that have already begun to leaf. If you’re in need of a pick-me-up, come take one (just one, please!) at 912 Farragut. No cost, just please pay it forward and email me how you passed goodness onto someone else! I wore gloves when handling the pots and repotting the canes, and we are symptom free and strict about the self isolation. Please keep social distancing while walking outside. A call to buy time from coronavirus

Dear HParkers, I know that we all are tired of being home, that we need to take the kids out and walk the dog... Yes, of course. But please keep using common sense and maintain more than 6 feet from everyone else! There are too many people -and too close together- especially around the park entrance and the reservoir. This is NOT a drill. This is a pandemic. We shoudln't be walking in big groups, we shouldn't be enjoying the sun sitting next to several people. And yes, it is no fun. We have to stop the spread of coronavirus. WE ARE NOT READY to cope with a massive infection of the population, we don't have enough medical equipment, masks, gloves, respirators, hospital beds, you name it. Even if we are healthy and strong and young and the virus might not affect us that much, we don't want to infect the most vulnerable people (think older parents, grandparents, anyone with a chronic condition). Imagine if, instead of being locked up for two weeks we have to be locked up for several months because we fail to prevent the spread of the virus. What will that do to our lifes, our kids, our economy? It is going to be bad enough, lets try to make it as easier as it can be. Try going for your walk at different times, try going out earlier, or try roads with fewer people or side streets...After all, we have pretty flexible schedules right now, don't we? This is a wonderful community and I know we are not the only ones to use the park, but if we keep ignoring the call to social distance we will only force the authorities to close the parks and to monitor everyone outside in the streets, as it is already happening in Italy and Spain (and likely soon in NY). Lets get through this together. Enjoy as much as you can but be safe, please. Thanks! Mayte Sáenz

Short term vacancy ASAP?

Hi neighbors - A friend who grew up in Pgh but now lives in NYC is coming back to Pgh with her elementary school aged son to be with her elderly parents through the pandemic. She’s wondering if there’s anyone with an apartment vacancy who would be willing to rent to her for 2 weeks so that she and her son can self-isolate before they move in with her parents. They’re not experiencing any symptoms and don’t have any reason to believe they’re sick, it’s just a precaution to protect her parents who have ongoing health issues. If you have any ideas or a place you’d be willing to rent to her for not a lot, please let me know and I’ll pass the info along to her. She’s looking to get out of NYC as soon as possible. Working from home? Brother all-in-one printer

Anyone working from home and finding themselves lacking some office gear like a printer/scanner? Brother MFC-J470DW printer available for porch pick up 1140 N Negley Ave. It works but hasn’t been used in a while as my husband bought a bigger printer for his home business a couple of years ago. Includes ink and about 10-20 sheets of paper. A lot of people are struggling with all the changes/virus so it’s free-$20, leave what you feel is fair and affordable to you. Our household is symptom free but I recommend bringing a Lysol wipe and gloves if you have them just to be safe.

Medical professionals and PPE

Medical professionals across the country agree on one thing: there is not enough personal protective equipment. (Google it if you don't believe me.) They need N95 masks, gloves, gowns, whatever you can think of that will help protect and sanitize. And everyone needs them: EVERY worker who is going into hospitals, aides, janitors, dietary, phlebotomists.
