Greetings! May your days be filled with much love and joy! We have arrived at Imbolc, the cross quarter day between winter solstice and the spring equinox, a time of new beginnings as Imbolc is the time of roots becoming active within the earth and the first stirrings of life within! Come out and refresh the body mind spirit connections as we embark upon our yoga practice to renew and restore the body on all levels. Please join us on Tuesday mornings for yoga. Enjoy a mindful yoga flow including gentle warmups, stretching, strengthening and balancing poses. What a lovely way to begin your day! All are welcome! Tuesday yoga class will meet at 8 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church 5401 Centre Ave. Shadyside 15232. Yoga class will meet in the Fellowship Hall (follow the signs for yoga). Hello, Highland Park listpeople! We (me and my small, senior dog) are looking for a place to rent on March 1st or close to that date. My great top-floor space on Wightman St. in Squirrel Hill, where I have been for less than a year, is suddenly and unexpectedly unavailable; the owner is selling and my housemates are moving into a new, smaller place before the current lease expires. I am paying $500/month now and need to stay pretty close to that amount. Basic requirements are a private room and an onsite washer and dryer, and, obviously, pets-allowed. About me: I am semi-retired, last employer was Carnegie Mellon. Long-time homeowner (Edgewood/Regent Square) until forced to downsize. I am quiet, clean, and consciously tidy in shared spaces. I am friendly but tend to keep to myself. I generally work at home. Sheba, my small, sweet 13 year-old dog, is quiet, well behaved, affectionate, and charming. She gets along well with dogs and is open-minded about cats. I can provide many references for both of us! I would strongly prefer a house or duplex over an apartment. That said, I am open to what you may have to offer. Time is short! I am hoping to stay in the general vicinity of the East End — Highland Park, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, Regent Square — which are familiar stomping grounds. Hey, HPers! I'm back with From Planning to Canning starting THIS Wednesday (February 5th). Two sessions will be offered for each class, a morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 a m, and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Classes will be held at Temple Sinai, 5505 Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill, 15217 (the corner of Forbes and Murdoch). The entrance is off of Forbes Avenue. We will meet in room 206 of the school. Classes are $20 each, and I accept cash, check, major credit cards and PayPal. (Sliding scale available. No cost if it's a hardship.) Topics for the first 3 weeks are: 2/5: What Will Work for Me? Planning Your Garden •Comparing your dreams to your reality •Assessing workload, money, etc. •Assessing growing space: sunlight, measurements, climate, etc. 2/12: How Does Your Garden Grow? •Organic/Natural/Conventional •Heirloom/Hybrid/Open-Pollinated •Plant, seed & supply sources--the good the bad & the ugly •How to read catalog descriptions (what do all those abbreviations mean?) •GENERAL Pest Control overview 2/19: Starting Plants--Theory & Practice (including going home with some newly-planted seeds and/or cuttings!) •Seeds •Cuttings •Division •Layering Once we get further into March, we'll be dealing with extending the season via cold frames & hot frames, raised beds, tree pruning, soil structure, testing & amendment and transplanting. A vintage Burberry silk blouse in excellent pre-owned condition with minimal wear! $65 Size 2 It has been dry cleaned and stored in a smoke free pet free home. So very silky smooth soft! I think it's from the 90's (going by the tag). It belonged to a friend who wore it a few times and then gave it to me, but I've never worn it. There are a few wrinkles you will have to steam out.
