I currently have a toddler daycare spot open! (must be over 1 years old) I am open from 7:30 am to 5pm, it is a hands on in home daycare with over 7 years of experience with children from 3 months to 6 years, cpr and first aid training, a degree in early education and am licensed under the state. I am dedicated to not only taking care of the children but beginning their learning experience with preschool curriculum based on the child/childrens age. I watch the children in the lower level of my house which is remodeled just for the daycare so that the children have nothing of danger they could get into, and also allows the children to have an at home feeling while focusing alot of my time on art work, crafts, reading, outdoor time, music and exercise. We also travel to the library, zoo, parks and volleyball court with our four kid stroller. A summer tradition for many years that we of St. Andrew's--and friends--are invited to "read the same book together" and then to gather a couple of times to discuss it. All welcome, from parish and neighborhood . . . . The book selected for this Summer of 2018 is "Where God Happens: Discovering Christ in One Another," by retired Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. "In "Where God Happens" [Williams] combines his roles by examining the ancient wisdom of the Desert Fathers and interpreting the relevance of their teaching for Christian spirituality today." The book is available via brick and mortar and online booksellers in new and used and electronic formats. We are arranging a group purchase ($20 new), which you may join by signing the sheet in Brooks Hall or calling Michelle in the St. Andrew's Church Office no later than Sunday June 3. Our evenings of conversation will be Tuesday, June 26, and Thursday, August 16, from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., downstairs in Barley Hall. FOCUS Pittsburgh Food, Hygene & supplies Drive Pick-up around the neighborhood this Wednesday, 23 MAY 18, at 9:00 AM

Reminder - Hi neighbors, just a quick reminder that we will be driving the neighborhood picking up for the monthly FOCAS Collection this coming Wednesday, 23 MAY 18. We will be around the neighborhood at 9:00 AM Wednesday morning, so if you have non-perishable food items, or items listed below to donate, as We are running our 3rd pick-up from the neighborhood for Supplies for FOCUS !!! We have attached a letter in regards to what they need, but most importantly it is FOOD at this time. Last month we took our Van Loaded, and it was so needed and so much appreciated. Mike and Brigette Nadler, are coordinating the Highland Park pick up. If you are inclined to help, leave the supplies on your front porch and we will pick up and get your donations to FOCUS. So we are doing this again this coming Wednesday, 25 MAY 18. We will be around starting at 9:00 AM, and need to get the donations there by noon. Please DO NOT drop off here, as we do not have a way of storing donations. Just email us your actual address to: mike(a)divehards.com<mailto:mike@divehards.com>, to let us know what to expect to pick up (as well as what not to take off your porches !!!). MAKE SURE that there is a Phone Number so that they can reach you during collection times, should there be any questions. FOCUS Pittsburgh, located in the Hill District, is part of a national movement through the Orthodox Church, that helps to fight poverty in communities across America. One of their areas in need is keeping their food pantry stocked with food and supplies. Currently, their shelves are empty and they need help. The above attachment highlights what they need. It could change on a monthly basis, at which point that need will be communicated. FOCUS Pittsburgh has been in the Hill since 2011. Each week, hundreds of backpacks are distributed to children in the Hill and Southside Public Schools. They offer an 8-week professional development class that teaches non-technical job skills to promote employment and success in the workplace. Bag lunches are distributed every Saturday through the Churches....140 lunches to be exact. In 2014, they opened a free medical and behavioral health clinic for people who are uninsured or who don't qualify for medical assistance. Most recently, they have purchased an RV, trained dozen of volunteers, and have formed a trauma response team -- responding to homicides in Allegheny County by providing on-site psychological and mental health care to residents affected by violence.
