WOW. Ask and Highland Park delivers. Thanks everyone! So far I have 19 responses and it was a stunning landslide for Original Mattress Factory, 17, to Levin’s 1 and Mattress Firm’s 1. I guess I got my answer. Many thanks to Pat and to Adam for the two valuable links on choosing a mattress: http://www.themattressunderground.com/ http://www.sleeplikethedead.com And now, the reviews so far: 1. We had a painless experience with Original Mattress Factory a few years ago. We weren't looking for anything fancy, just a comfortable, affordable double mattress for a seldom used guest room. We found something nice and it has help up well. They delivered on time and hauled the old mattress away. —-- 2. Original mattress is great! —— 3. I had an excellent experience with the Original Mattress Factory. Also, there's a website that offers more advice about mattresses than you ever dreamed could exist. I exchanged a number of messages with Phoenix, the guy who runs the site, in the course of my search. Here's the link: http://www.themattressunderground.com/ —— 4. We had great experiences with the Original Mattress Factory. Excellent mattresses. jai —— 5. I think the quality at the Original Mattress Factory is great. I bought a mattress there for my mom, and also replaced the two narrow mattresses on a day bed. They are very helpful and will sell you exactly what you need. ——- 6. We've now purchased mattresses for each bedroom at Original Mattress Factory (4 in total) and have been pleased with all of them. They're helpful but not pushy, have good prices, and we've been very pleased with the quality and comfort. Highly recommended! —— 7. Hi Lori, we got a mattress from the original mattress factory, it is good, the memory foam one. I do suggest checking out a site like: http://www.sleeplikethedead.com which can either a) help or b) confuse given all of the research they do. One important thing, most people are happy with their mattresses, so any reviews online tend to be negative and if you focus on them it can be difficult to make any decision (as it was for us). I will say that mattress sales is a sleazy business because people buy infrequently, don't know much about mattresses, the purchases are worth a lot of $$$, and salespeople only have a shot at a customer every 8-10 years so there's a lot of pressure to make sales, kind of like the car business, furniture business (levin is in both!), etc. I would avoid any place that does heavy discounting or where salespeople are trying to find out your budget to match some product to you that generates the most profit for them at that budget. ——- 8. We recently bought a mattress from The Original Mattress Factory and had a great experience. The product is top quality and there's no "hard" sell. —— 9. I have bought every mattress at original mattress factory and have been very happy. —— 10. Yes, we have a mattress and we have had it for at least 8 years. Still in good shape and serves us well. Also had cheap twin mattresses for the kids in the past. Served them well. The mattresses came from the Original mattress factory. —— 11. We bought our present mattress and box spring several years ago at Original Mattress Factory by the HP Bridge , and it was worked out great. Has stayed firm, no loss of thickness, both sides padded, so no problem flipping the mattress a couple of times a year... —— 12. We have had several good experiences with Original Mattress Factory in Aspinwall. Also, for a nominal fee they will cut any of their mattresses down to a smaller size (length and/or width) as long as it is a multiple of the number of springs. —--- 13. original mattress is great. Love my mattress —— 14. I’ve bought to mattresses from the Original Mattress Factory in Aspinwall and I've been happy with them. Mattress prices are always shocking to me! —— 15. We bought a full mattress and queen mattress from the original mattress factory within the past year. We are very pleased with the mattresses as well as the ease of buying and delivery was very speedy! —— 16. We've always used original mattress factory with great luck. —— 17. We had a good experience at the Original Mattress Factory over the Highland Park Bridge ten years ago. The sales people were knowledgeable and the prices were better in comparison with name brand mattresses in the department stores. We have been well satisfied with the queen pillow top mattrees and box spring that we bought. It is double sided so we have been able to turn and rotate it as needed. There are nice handles on the side which make it easier to handle a large mattress. It is now over ten years old and still gives us good sleep. Sorry I don't remember the exact model that we purchase. ++++++++++ 1. I got my mattress from Levin and I absolutely love my bed. And the customer service there! Plus Levin gives EXTREMELY nice giveaways/freebies for their customers in appreciation for their loyalty. I have Crystal Ice Cream cups/bowls, Crystal Candlesticks, a wine set (charms, cork popper, etc) and a few other items. ++++++++++ 1. I bought a mattress from mattress firm when it was in the waterworks before it was sold to this larger company. I like the mattress and their service was good. At that time they had serta mattresses. I wanted a serta because they are lighter and I have a sleigh bed and need to lift the mattress up out of the bed to change the fitted sheet. ++++++++++ If more come in, I’ll post them. I will hold onto these reviews forever — or until my computer dies — so when someone asks about mattress stores next month, they will still be available. Thank you Highland Park! lori
