Hello! I have a few left of many different varieties, as well as two varieties that just FINALLY decided to mature enough to transplant (and now are growing like gangbusters!) Those two are garden huckleberry and Holy Kaprao basil (see attachment for description). Most of the listings have just a few (1-4) pots left, but some of those have multiples per pot. Almost all the basils are in multiples, as well as a few tomatoes and peppers. Everything is ready for transplant (except the two varieties listed above - give them a week or so) All I ask is that you take what you - or a friend, neighbor or relative - will use. Leave what you think is fair in the empty pot on the table (under the brick inside, please). If you can't afford anything, or are using them for a non-profit, then take what you'll use anyway and leave no money! THE ONLY ITEMS AVAILABLE ARE THOSE THAT ARE DISPLAYED IN THE FRONT, RIGHT PART OF THE DRIVEWAY!!!! The rest will be going into my personal garden. My address is 910 Highview Street, 15206. Parallel to and Between Negley and Chislett. My house is between Avondale and Wellesley. If you need ANY help or have any questions, please contact me. I want you to be successful. Also, if there's something you wish I'd grown this year, let me know what it is. I'll check it out. And, if you're interested in your own seeds, I'm thinking of ordering a seed rack from Seed Savers Exchange next year and selling below retail value, or even dividing up packs for those who don't need that many seeds. Follow up on Nelson the Dog

Wow - In the past hour alone I have received 12 emails from members of this listserve, expressing their happiness that Nelson was finally found yesterday. Many asked for details about how he was found. Thank you all for caring so much about a missing dog and offering ideas and experiences. First, let me clarify that Nelson is not my dog but belongs to some good friends who live in Squirrel Hill. He escaped from the car on Washington Blvd near the U Haul place, on June 8. He took off into the woods, even though people stopped right away to try to catch him. For the next 10 days, there were sightings reported all over the east end neighborhoods and Penn Hills, and his family assembled a team of searchers who worked day and night to find him. The effort was incredibly well done, using the standard flyers on telephone poles but also using social media and photographs ingeniously. His picture and information was shared all over Pittsburgh. There was a long period - 6 days - of no sightings, and that was discouraging, but then on Thursday morning drivers and construction workers began calling in with reports of sightings. Nelson's family and their volunteers were on it immediately, driving all over the area around the VA Hospital, Westinghouse High School and Homewood. He was on the move and they saw him but he would not come. It took all day yesterday and the drama was incredible - we could follow it all day on Facebook as the searchers communicated with each other and mapped out his every move. The searchers recognized that he was moving in a circle and they surrounded him and got ahead of him. He was finally "captured" in an alley in Homewood around 4 PM. He is okay, except for scratches. He was taken right to the vet and then home, home at last. He was never very far from where he was initially lost. I think the whole community eventually knew about Nelson. The support was amazing. Saturating the city was SO productive - and today they are removing the flyers. There are no strangers in Pittsburgh! Here is Nelson, back in the car and smiling. Thanks again. Nancy Kennedy

Beware of Electricity suppliers

I am not advocating they you should avoid them at all costs, but I've had 2 of these companies come to my door recently. The first one I didn't have the info he needed to look at handy, but with the second one I did. He looked at my bill and added all the supplier and transmission fees together to try and tell me I was paying around 16 cents per KWh, when in reality, what I had listed was 2 suppliers, each supplying a portion of my power (about 500 KWh for one and 180 KWh for the other one) To determine the real cost of your supply, you have to add each suppliers supply and transmission cost, multiply that by the KWh they covered, then do the same for any other suppliers. Add all those numbers together, and divide by the total KWh. For instance, for me, it was 500 KWh at about 8 cents, and 180 at about 7.9 cents, so 500 * 8 = 4000, 180 * 7.9 = 1422, which total to 5422. 5422 divided by 680 (total number of KWh) gets me to 7.97 cents per KWh average. Sorry for the math lesson, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew what to look for, and not to let these suppliers ( who are either not trained correctly or lying) walk over you. Good luck, and if you want to guarantee your rates (Duquesne is a variable rate, other suppliers do offer fixed) I recommend checking out www.papowerswitch.com to find local suppliers and their current deals. Just be careful, some of them offer very low fixed rates, but the rate will change to variable after the terms are up, and some of them only last as little as 3 months, then the variable rate could be jacked way up.
