My name is Poetic Justice, PJ for short; well that's that's what the people I love call me. They are my family. I have a mum, a dad, and 2 sisters who I love very much. My sister Shanbreen is with the Angels in heaven, she watches over us everyday. I never had the chance to meet her, but I know how special she is. I know she wanted dad to have a dog of his very own; I feel blessed that I was chosen. My dad is a character! You should see how well he treats me! I get special meals, cold wet snow cleared for me so I can go potty, and he even let's me tell him when I want to go to bed. I wouldn't tell dad this, but I have him wrapped around my little paw~ this is our secret so keep that between us. He and I spent a lot of time together; playing, relaxing and cuddling. Everyone thinks they have the best dad in the entire world, but they can't possibly have him.. Because he is mine. My mum is like most mums; she tells me when to go to bed, she tells me to calm down when I'm playing, running, and barking. Mum doesn't want me to get hurt- I've seen other mums tell their children to settle down too, so this how mums think. She's mine and I love her. My sister Shazeena is my playmate! She plays hide the bone and I have to find it! She loves to dress me up in my costumes and usually I don't mind, except for the one time.. I was a shark. I didn't like that one very much so I stayed still, like a shark statue. I don't like when Shazeena has guys interested in her.. I make myself as big as I can, (have you ever seen a puffer fish?), and let them know that she is mine and I'm not sharing with anyone else. I am the only male that is allowed near her, after all it's my job to protect her. No one will ever be good enough for my sister! These are the happy times that I remember the most, and the tales of my life until everything changed: Last September, I went to visit someone who was supposed to keep me safe while my family was away in France. September 20, 2014, I decided I wanted to go home and snuck out of the yard unannounced. I was spotted and chased so I had to hide. My life was ruff before my family came along; I was NOT treated very well, so many things scare me. Someone gained my trust and took me to their home. I tried to tell them that I have a family who is searching for me, but they can't seem to understand me. I wake up in this strange place everyday longing for my family, my fleece blanket, and my special meals, but for some reason I am stuck here. I am being fed and cared for, but I belong with the Taherbhai's! That is my full name, Poetic Justice (PJ) Taherbhai! See that means that I belong there, not here!! Will you please help me get home to my family? I know someone out there knows where I am, and can tell my family to please come get me. If you happen to see me, or know where I am, call the number on the flyers I've seen of myself. I would call, but my paws are too big to press the buttons. First on the agenda is an update from Commander Lando on the recent robberies in the neighborhood. Find out firsthand what the police are doing to keep the neighborhood safe. The main speaker for the evening is Mark Dixon, filmmaker and Highland Park resident. The HPCC is holding a FREE screening of The Power of One Voice: A 50-Year Perspective on the Life of Rachel Carson, his latest documentary. It is a groundbreaking documentary examining the life of Rachel Carson and the profound implications of her environmental work. The film features interviews with Rachel Carson’s adopted son, Roger Christie, her biographer, Linda Lear, and other notable writers, scientists and advocates. By highlighting the power of Carson’s voice, we hope to inspire others to add their voices to this essential conversation.
