Add to that the meat from Kennedys and all the other items from the other vendors at the market and surely it is worth a visit. Please read below for details on items available this week. KENNEDY MEAT STAND - Taylor's 4-H projects show beef - Pork slab spare ribs The number at the farm is 724-898-2316. Greenawalt Farm   Brian is in Somerset County today visiting the Amish farms. Items this week include tomatoes (several varieties), pickles, cukes, potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes (various types), broccoli, cauliflower, rhubarb, swiss chard, green onions, sweet onions, leeks and hot and sweet peppers, fresh herbs.  In the bean department, green beans, limas and shelling beans.   In the fruit department: apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, 4 types of watermelon.  New varieties of "winter" squash arrive this week.  Brian have some organically grown such as cabbage, sweet onion and maybe others.     Greenawalt's always have fresh local eggs and many types of Amish canned items such as jellies and jams. They also have some cured meat items from Lancaster County.  Zang's Greenhouse... Rick have fresh sweet corn from McIlhinny Farm in Evans City.   Rick will also have fresh garlic, shallots, potatoes, green beans, wax beans, sweet onions, micro greens, cukes and pickles, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, peppers including pablanos and PA grown mushrooms.  In the fruit department:  nectarines, white and yellow peaches- all from Chambersburg.  Melons-  Watermelons and cantaloupes.  Rick will also have a few shipped in items to fill in the gaps.   Cucumbers are in good supply and in quantities suitable for canning.     California Connection-  We now have our full line of 2014 vintage oils to offer.  All are certified Extra Virgin by the Califorinia Olive Oil Council.  Four of the oils are also certified organic. Our offerings are: Corto Olive Fiueroa Farms- Organic Frantioi Figuero Farms- Organic Estate Blend Olio Nuevo- Estate Arbiquina Organic Arbequina Organic California Blend Stone House- House Blend California Dried Fruits and Nuts include:   New from California are freshly harvested and dried sour cherries. We also still have: Apricots (organic) Blueberries Peaches Bing and Rainier CherriesWhite FigsPloutsRaisinsRaw almonds Raw walnuts (organic)Pistachios (organic)   Kew Park Coffee Bar-  Fresh roasted coffee from the farm in Jamaica.  At the juice bar we have valencia oranges from California and lemon aid.   Wheel and Wedge Cheese-   We have quite a strong supply of cheese right now, both local and regional.  We have fresh batches of Chevre and Feta from Riverview Dairy.  We also have a new shipment of cheese from God's Country in Potter County.   Pastamore' barrel-aged vinegars-  These are being brought to us by long time market customer Sylvia Lynch.  Offerings include basic balsamic vinegar, but also other flavored vinegars. Free tastes, of course.  Stop by and talk to Sylvia and try these vinegars. Flavors include: - Sweet elderberry juice combined with our white balsamic vinegar creates a subtly sweet yet slightly tart flavor. - Blackberry Balsamic  Pure balsamic vinegar is blended with blackberries to create a thick, rich and full-bodied vinegar. - Dark Sweet Cherry Balsamic Vinegar  Combined with hand-picked Dark Sweet Cherries create the perfect flavor as a salad dressing for spinach or fresh greens. - Citrus Balsamic Vinegar has been blended with sweet oranges, tangerines, and a splash of lime to create this inspirational and versatile vinegar. BANDY Woodworks All items are made in their shop using local reclaimed and salvaged wood and non-toxic finishes.  They just got in a fresh bactch of beautiful cutting boards. Missing dog groomer

This is probably a long-shot but... Our dog groomer, Lanie, (pronounced Lay-nee) at Pet Co at the Waterworks has apparently left her job there. I would like to find out where she might now be working. She was the head groomer and very good. I was given her last name but could find no one by that name in the phone book. I was also told that she may have left the company. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Many thanks. --

Flexi-leads

Dear neighbors, Every day, I walk my dog and see others walk their dogs on Flexi-leads. I cringe. They are dangerous on the street. The 20' range allows the dog to dash out into traffic when they see another dog, cat, or squirrel. And, yes, I have watched a dog die - on a Flexi and hit by a car when she ran into traffic. You can hit the lock button to shorten the lead - but the Flexi handle is not ergonomically suited to the human hand. Your dog can easily rip the handle out of your hand and go running down the sidewalk - or into the street. I've also seen that happen. Luckily, that dog ran down the sidewalk to greet my friendly dog. But, if he ran into the street, it could have ended badly. Protect your dogs. Use a 5' or 6' lead on the streets. I think Flexis are OK in the park - although technically illegal. City law says a 6' lead. I haven't seen that enforced - but, please, protect your dogs. Jan

I want to amend my earlier posting about the men lurking in my side yard. I talked with my tenant further and he said they were not merely lurking. They were actively trying to open my gate into the back yard. (The gate is locked.) He said, "They were wrasslin' with it like they owned it." They persisted even after seeing him. They only took off after they heard the police coming. -K
