Hello All, I got a recommendation from the list serve for Max's Appliance Repair and I just wanted to say thank you to whomever recommended him. I also would like to second the recommendation- he could not save my dishwasher but he was very honest about it and told me up front that it wasn't worth fixing. He was professional, on time and very knowledgable . Here is the unbelievable part- he charged me nothing for the diagnosis! Other companies charge $100 just to show up and diagnosis the problem . If I ever need any appliance repaired Max will be the man for the job. He has an excellent rating with the BBB too. Thanks again, Janice Sent from my iPad

Olive & Marlowe holiday hours and breads from La Gourmandine

Olive & Marlowe (5975 Broad St. in East Liberty) will observe holiday hours tomorrow, July 4th, from 10-3 and will be vending at the Garfield Night Market (N. Pacific between Penn and Dearborn) from 6-10. We will also have fresh breads and pastries from La Gourmandine on Friday since the bakery is closed this Saturday. Thanks, and have a happy holiday! Highland park: Please help me find a home for Izzy, a cat who resides in the apartment building I work at in Shadyside. Her current owner has serious allergies to her and has to find her another permanent home. Please let us know if Izzy sounds like the right fit for you and I'll put you in touch with Izzy's owner! Izzy is 10 years old, but is said to act like a kitten! Prior to being with her current owner, Izzy was kept as an indoor/outdoor cat. She would do best in a home as the only animal. Appliance repair recommendation - 3rd and final!

Ok - I just got off the phone with Max Appliance Repair and wanted to set the records straight, he does charge a diagnostic fee of $80.00 ( still $20.00 less then everyone else). He was in the neighborhood working on something else's appliance the day I called and since he was close by and just dropping in to look it over- he graciously did not charge me. I still liked his honesty and professionalism so I'll still be using him but wanted to let you know that he does charge $80.00 for diagnostic appts. Janice Sent from my iPad
