Animal trap

Does anyone have an animal trap I can borrow? Seems we have a opossum that likes to dig up our yard and hang out on our porch late at night. I called Animal Control for a trap but they told me that there is a long waiting list for them. Thanks Karen

Walkers and bikers PLEASE pay attention!

Twice within the last week an adult pedestrian listening to an iPod has walked off the sidewalk at a VERY close distance in front of my car. Neither time did the person look for traffic, stop, or even pause before stepping into the street. One time it wasn't even at an intersection. Also, today a cyclist swerved in front of me to make a left turn without looking for traffic, without any arm gestures indicating a turn, also with ear buds in. There are many good reasons for pedestrians having a right-of-way, but what is a driver supposed to do in these situations when people are being self absorbed and careless? I don't mean to sound harsh, but I was shaken by all three of these events, especially when I was forced to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting one of the walkers. I am a cautious driver, but there's nothing I can do but react as best as possible if someone doesn't look and steps in front of me. Unfortunately, these events seem to happen more and more frequently in the past few years, I've learned from family members and friends. I don't want to hurt anybody and I certainly don't want to deal with any legal issues if I'm not the one to blame. Please help keep our neighborhood safe!

Shooting on Baywood street

Last night, a little before 10 pm, several shots were fired on Baywood street, next door to our home. We have never experience this kind of violence in the four years we have owned our home, and it was an extremely scary experience. Thankfully, police appeared on the scene within minutes, and apparently no one was injured. But this could be a case of drug related/ gang related violence where they were trying to make a point by opening fire, and we cannot rule out the possibility of it happening again. We have young children, and we are very worried about their safety. The house next door is home to three apartments, and we know all the renters who live there. They are all long-term renters, and law-abiding, hard working folks. Their relatives, however, are questionable characters who hang out there often, and even stay there for long stretches of time. While I don't care what you smoke in your home, but smoking weed on the porch where my kids can smell it across the front yard is simply not acceptable. There are other unacceptable behaviors as well, which I will avoid going into detail here. I wish the landlord cared more about who actually inhabits his property rather than simply collecting rent. This been a big menace, and it appears to increase during the summer months. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to deal with this? More police presence in the area? More oversight by landlords? Please help!
