[Highland Park] Parking On Glenview Place

Between the hours of 9:15 pm and 10 pm on Tuesday evening one of my neighbors decided to leave a nasty note on both my boyfriend and my sister's cars. They were parked at the tail end of Glenview Place as there were no available parking spaces anywhere else on the street near my home. This person decided that they should designate this area as a "turnaround spot" and not a parking space. (You're not the Mayor of Glenview Place!) And for the record they were each parked there for approximately an hour. I'd appreciate the opportunity to speak with whoever crafted these notes. Parking is tight enough on our "No Outlet" street as it is without neighbors being so unpleasant and passive aggressive. Feel free to email me to talk about this or come by to speak to me in person. [Highland Park] Highland Park Garden Club meeting this Saturday

Hello neighbors, This is to remind you that the Highland Park Garden Club will have its monthly meeting this coming Saturday the 22nd of March at the Union Project building, in the Atrium room accessible through the Stanton avenue entrance. The meeting will start at 10:00 am. It is open to the entire community and hopefully we will entice you to join our group. Here is what you will learn: Class on seed germination: Our plant guru Rachel will teach you how to grow plants from seeds, what containers to use, even utilizing things around the house like newspaper and soup cans, how to harvest the seeds and how you take care of seedlings until it is time to plant them outside, what is the best soil to use and how much water they need..and lots more. We will also be made aware by our own tree tender Nancy of a beautiful site totally neglected by us all. I bet you've been by this site dozens of times and never noticed it, yet it is historic, made by a renown landscape designer/architect and built by a historic administration that put America back on its feet in the 1930's. I am not telling, you'll have to come to the meeting to find out. I will present the plan for Our beautification of Bryant street with planters and flowers. I will bring two samples for you to see. We will plan on continuing cleaning up the Union Project building's landscape, we have done the Negley side now we will do the Stanton side on April 26th. Please mark your calendars. I hope to see you at the meeting this Saturday. Please plan on planting a lot of Rudbeckias also called Black Eyed Susan in your front yards. it is the official Highland Park flower. the cultivar Fulgida is the best one to plant, beautiful and very hardy and healthy. Hi neighbors, We are doing some spring(ish) cleaning and have a few items we'd like to unload. Photos available for each one on request- were too large to attach to this email. 1. heated massage mat. barely used. maybe never used- $10 2. Waring Pro Juicer- hardly used- $25 3. Polaroid TV with DVD player - $25 4. world's worst treadmill- it runs but requires some WD-40 every once in awhile. And probably doesn't go faster than 10mph. So if the eternal winter has you wishing you could power-walk in your basement- its yours- free to a good home. or really, any home. FREE!

FYI! Open enrollment for getting health insurance ends on March 31st! If you are uninsured, this is the last date to apply for coverage to avoid the $95 per person individual mandate fine and to get insurance in 2014. If you miss this date, you will have to wait until 2015 to get insurance, unless there is a life change like a job change, marriage, birth, divorce, etc. Please call me for assistance! I can walk you through the application process on healthcare.gov and make sure you get all of the government financial assistance that you are due. My services are free of charge to you. Please reply to email address at the bottom-from a friend- Point Breeze family seeks a responsible driver who likes kids to help with after school activity rides. We have three “tweens” who are busy after 4:30pm with music lessons, sports clubs etc. The activities are largely in the East End, but trips to downtown, the Southside and occasionally, the suburbs are also involved. Specifics: $10/hour plus gas money for driving kids starting between 4:30 and 5pmto various activities, sometimes bringing them home as well. Most evenings are completed by 8pm.
