On Sunday, October 19th from 1-5pm at SALT of the Earth (5523 Penn Ave.) Garfield Community Farm is having our annual Fall Festival and would love it if you you came by to support our work and have some great food, beer and music at the same time. At the festival we will have live music from Hill Jordan and Slide Worldwide and Mark Williams, local home-brewed beer, fresh pressed cider, a pie contest, games for kids, pumpkin decorating, bobbing for apples, cooking demonstrations, food made by three of Pittsburgh top chefs, including local source lamb and beef burgers, and more. [PennDOT left-cmyk] Traffic Advisory Oct. 7, 2014 Route 8 Butler Street Line Striping and Traffic Signal Setting Wednesday and Thursday in Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA - PennDOT District 11 is announcing line striping and traffic signal setting work on Butler Street (Route 8) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 8-9, weather permitting. Intermittent traffic stoppages will occur on Butler Street between the Highland Park Bridge and Baker Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Crews will conduct line striping operations and traffic signal settings for the traffic switch to the new bridge. No lane restrictions will occur. The work is part of the Route 8 Heths Run Bridge replacement project. The existing bridge built in 1913-14 will be replaced with a new structure. A temporary roadway through the Pittsburgh Zoo parking lot will be implemented for cars and light trucks. Additionally, the project includes reconstruction of 870 feet of Butler Street, improvements on One Wild Place, drainage, and sidewalk and signal upgrades. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect possible delays.
