As the Route 28 project progresses, we are pleased to take the next step towards completion of this complicated and important project for the region,” District Executive Dan Cessna, P.E. said. “While we will re-implement the restriction for the fifth and final phase later this year, we know motorists will enjoy the open road for the next several months.” **** ** ** To allow the second northbound lane to re-open, all southbound traffic will be detoured across the 40th Street Bridge from Friday evening at 8 p.m. continuously through Saturday at approximately 5 p.m. Signs will guide motorists along the detour route.**** ** ** Posted detour**** - Take the 40th Street Bridge to Butler Street**** - Turn right onto Butler Street**** - Follow Butler Street to Penn Avenue**** - Continue on Penn Avenue to 16th Street**** - Turn right and cross the 16th Street Bridge**** - Follow to East Ohio Street**** - End detour**** ** ** Additionally, periodic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur on northbound Route 28 after 10 p.m. Friday night so crews can relocate a truss sign.**** ** ** Once the work is completed, all four lanes of traffic will be in the permanent configuration under the 31st Street Bridge. The Millvale on-ramp to northbound Route 28 will return to it’s original stop condition.
