There was no ID or microchip. She is about 8 months old and the most loving, interactive cat I've ever met. She is curled up on my lap, purring with her head across my forearm as I type this. She is beautiful, well mannered and very interactive. She uses the litter box. She seemed unfazed over seeing dogs and other cats, but she is being kept separate from them for now. She went directly to the vet's office for inoculation, testing and flea and tick med. She is in excellent health, though understandably a bit thin. She wolfs down the controlled portions she is being fed. We will have her spayed and micro chipped for the adopter along with her inoculation booster shots. There is no cost for adopting or for the vetting, but she will go to the right home. Please let me know if you are interested. [Highland Park] Looking to Buy Toyota/Honda / Question about Used Car Dealerships?

Hi again, I'm looking to buy a Toyota or Honda for under $3500, and while I'm mainly looking on craigslist, I'm considering visiting some used car dealerships. However, I don't want to go to any that aren't reputable or will try to rip me off, so I'm looking for some recommendations of good places from my neighbors! Or even just a person who is very knowledgeable about used cars to give me some tips on what to look for/avoid. And obviously, if you know of anyone selling a Toyota or Honda (or another good/cheap to maintain car) for that price, please let me know! Thanks so much! Flavia

[Highland Park] Bad and Good Manners

Neighbors - We recently lost 3 dogs. One was 15. The other 2 were young, rescue dogs from shelters who died from cancer and the canine version of Lou Gehrig's disease - degenerative myelopathy. We were so lucky to get an astonishing corgi pup late June. I wanted a dog for therapy and competitive obedience. Griffin shows great promise, but now he is a 5 month old adolescent. He goes wild when he greets people and other dogs on the street. I thank so many of you who have been so kind when I say, "He's a teenager!" We have made many new friends. Now, I ask you to help me. When you see Griffin and I coming, I will ask you to stand quietly while I get him to sit to be quietly greeted. Don't pet him until he sits. After that, I will release him - and you, your children, and he can go wild happy. Yah, he's an adolescent - and the training will take a while to sink in. Teenage brain. Sigh. Now, to the bad part. In the past few weeks, we have been almost run over by cyclists and joggers several times. I have balance problems and walk with a cane. Crosswalks and stop signs are there for a reason. Rushing through them and yelling "Sorry!" doesn't help when I'm thrown off balance. Joggers used to give warning when they silently came up behind you. No longer. A group of 8 joggers swarmed us last week. I lost balance and almost fell. They looked over their shoulders and laughed as I struggled. This morning, a woman passed me and said, "He's walking you!" No. He was not walking me. He has learned to fear joggers coming up behind us. So, Highland Park neighbors - please respect pedestrians. If you give me notice, I'll control my dog. Get him off to the side. Cross the street. I want this dog to grow up to be a sound therapy dog. I want him to learn to love wheelchairs, people with mental and physical disabilities. He has the potential. Please don't screw him up or leave me lying on the sidewalk. Yes, he's a jerk now - but he can become great. I want to see that great. And I don't want to fall down flat on the sidewalk. A little help, please. Jan
