[Highland Park] Global Challenges & Local Impacts Lectures at the Union Project

Global Solutions Pittsburgh has been, and will be, hosting a series of community lectures at the Union Project throughout 2013. The series creates a global consciousness in Pittsburgh by building bridges between relevant, important issues that affect us here in the city, as well as the world at large. It's a unique opportunity to take part in conversations like these at the community - with a diverse audience - and I wanted to make sure Highland Park residents were aware of the programs and knew they were welcome to attend! This months' program is on July 18 at 6 pm, discussing the Civil War in Syria - panelists include *Laila Al-Soulaiman*, Syrian-American Artist and Activist at the University of Pittsburgh, who recently graduated from the Ellis School and was recognized last year in the media several times for some of her unique work. [Highland Park] Novel features HP and East End

Here's a good book to add to your summertime reading list. Pittsburgh author Stewart O'Nan has written a novel featuring HP (Grafton Street), the East End and a lot more about Pittsburgh. The title is "Emily Alone". I assigned the book for our book club and all the couples (men included) fully engaged in the discussion. Happy summer reading!!

[Highland Park] Personal Trampoline

This is a great trampoline that could be a workout tool or simply used for fun. Judging by its build, it might be foldable, but I never tried it. It has no springs so there's no snagging of the toes.
