[Highland Park] March in the HPCC July 4 Kids' Parade & Volunteers Needed

The Highland Park Community Council Kids' Committee is hosting its annual 4th of July Parade. Kids of all ages are invited to decorate their bicycle and then show off their handy work with a parade around the fountain. When: July 4 at 10 a.m. Where: Highland Park -- meet near the fountain Supplies to decorate bikes, tricycles, wagons and anything else on wheels will be provided, as well as balloons and snacks. Volunteers to help the little ones with decorations and to fill helium balloons are needed. We are also accepting donations of red, white and blue decorations for the children to use to decorate their bikes. Please contact Teri Rucker via e-mail or at 412-482-2533 if you are interested in volunteering or have something donate. Supplies also can be dropped off at the side porch of 5914 Wellesley Ave. Hope to see you all in the park on the 4th. Teri

[Highland Park] Loving Cat Needs New Home

Dear Neighbors, We are in search of a new home for our family's cat, Mr. Tibbet. He is a gentle, family-friendly pet. He is a wonderful companion and is very good with babies, children, and visitors. My husband's job is taking us to Ohio where we will reside for one year. After that, we have yet another move to the Midwest. We wish to spare Tibbet the stress of moving and adjusting to two, possibly three, different homes over the next two years. We are hopeful a family or individual would consider taking him in as a pet. We are not asking for compensation. We only ask that you love him and care for him. We adopted Tibbet in 2010 and have enjoyed having him in our family for the past three years. We welcomed our first baby (a son) last October and have been very pleased with Tibbet's interaction with him:) Tibbet sees Dr. Fisher at East End Veterinary Medical Centre and is chipped. We will give his new owners his covered litter box, food, toys, bed, and miscellaneous accessories. Again, we sincerely hope Tibbet can find a new home in Highland Park. We are happy to answer any questions and will do whatever we can to ensure a smooth transition into a new home.
