Please forward this to the Highland Park community. Please come to a sing-along at the home of Sherry Goldman and Marty Sivitz at 7 :30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013. For directions, call 412-215-9631 anytime. We will be using the book, Rise Up Singing, and songbooks I've assembled. Please RSVP so we'll know how many songbooks to bring and chairs to set up. Please let me know of any songs you'd like to sing that aren't in Rise Up Singing so I can make 10 copies of the lyrics and music or you can bring 10 copies so we can all sing together. Snacks are appreciated but not required.

[Highland Park] Odd request

Hello everyone, I started a vermicompost bin ( in other words - a worm farm) and those critters love to eat!!! They especially love potato skins, fruit and peels, and vegetables, baby spinach leaves, egg shells, coffee grinds. I am trying to keep them as organic as possible and they have given me, in return, fabulous nutrient rich soil for my vegetable and flower garden. If you are a family that eats a lot of fruit or if you have a party and have lots of scraps leftover please bag it up for me and I will promptly pick up from you. OR if you cleaning out your pantry or refrigerator, I'll take the food you are going to throw away. Please, no meat or dairy. I appreciate your consideration of this somewhat odd request, but I simply did not comprehend how much they eat and I do not produce enough scraps by myself. Vermicomposting is very good for the environment as it lends to reduction of methane gases and reduces some of the trash sent to landfills.
