Dear friends and neighbors, Please consider the enjoyment and healthy benefits of jogging, running and exercise. Now, imagine adding obstacles and challenges to the run. Finally, add some mud and what you get is the 2nd Annual April Fools Challenge Race. The race is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Harlequins Rugby Football Association, a local non-profit that has been supporting at-risk youth mentoring programs in Pittsburgh for more than 20 years. An interesting new item is locally milled grains from Stanton Milling Company in New Stanton, PA.  Stanton Milling has been in operation since 1858.  They offer several products: - Buckweat flour - Buckweat pancake mix - Corn meal - Pancake mix For more information:  http://www.stantonmilling.com Greenawalt's always have fresh local eggs and many types of Amish canned items and dried beans.  They also have some cured meat items from Lancaster County- bacon and kielbasa. Kistaco Farm Apples- Kistaco still has a variety of apples grown on their farm.  Yes, this means locally grown apples that are carefully stored at just the right temperature to keep them fresh.  Varieties still available are Fuji, Stayman, Winesap, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, MatsuCrispin, Idared, Rome and Jonagold. Cider- they are still pressing it- fresh every week- the best in Pittsburgh. They will have a variety of shipped-in vegetables. Prepared items include fresh donuts. Fresh baked bread from Wood Street Bread Company is always available.  They pick it up from the bakery real early in the morning so you don't have to. Zang's Greenhouse...Locally grown items this week include, micro greens, micro arugula, mixed small head lettuce, rutabaga, beets, winter squash, onions, celery root, parsnips, mushrooms, shallots, white and red potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Non-local items include spinach and swiss chard, eggplants, peppers, asparagus, garlic, onions, green beans, and several varieties of tomatoes.  An interesting Florida citrus item is honey bell oranges.  They are very sweet and juicy. In the flower department- Rick will have hyacinth, tulips and amaryllis. Kew Park Coffee Bar- Check out our newly chalked signage!  We have a fresh batch of beans that were roasted by Commonplace Coffee Roasters.  Also, will have fresh squeezed grapefruit, tangerine, and orange juices. PA Made Cheese-   We have a new batch of Mushroom-Leek cheese from Common Folk Organics in Lancaster County.  This is a very unique cheese, and we have not had it in quite a while.  We also have a fresh batch of chevre and feta from Riverview Dairy.  As mentioned above, we also have a special visit from the folks from The Ark Farm in Jefferson County. BANDY Woodworks will have children's toys and games, and great items for the home and office using local reclaimed and salvaged wood and non-toxic finishes.  Cutting boards and wine racks make a great Valentine's gift for the foodie on your list!  Their booth is on the right when you walk in the front door from N. Hello Neighbors, Vintage Samsonite Hard Sided Luggage Suitcase ($85). This suitcase dates to about 1950 with the special hard plastic finish that is long lasting. The one large suitcase is brown in color. The inside of the suitcase is in good condition with minor staining. The suitcase was only owned by my father. This style is very sturdy and will last many years. The inside straps and pull-down cover are also in good condition. The outside of the case is in good condition, with some scuffs from minor use. The set includes one large, one medium, one small and one toiletry suitcase, beige or cream in color. The inside of the suitcases are in good condition. The medium suitcase has the original hangers. The set was only owned by my grandmother. This style is very sturdy and will last many years. The inside pockets and pull-down covers are in very good condition. The outside of the cases are also in good condition, with some scuffs from minor use. The original advertising tag for the set is included. Hi! I am trying to form a moms (and dads) group in the neigbourhood for supporting each other. I was thinking that given that there are a lot of moms of young children in the HP area that do not have family nearby, maybe we could organize a network for supporting each other when things don't go as planned. I was reading a message the other day by a mom whose husband is out of town and her child got sick, so she was having a hard time between work and taking care of him. Maybe if she had a strong support network we could give each other a hand during those hard times, I don't know, do a grocery run, watch the kids while mom takes a shower, bring them a meal, small tasks like that. This would be completely voluntary and for free, just for good karma :) Is this something you would be interested in? Let me know!
