Hello my lovely donators, I just wanted to let you know that Tim and Nathan as well as 10 other families living in Hazelwood (actually 2 were from Wilkinsburg) had an extra nice Christmas this year thanks to all of YOU! We (YOU) received many many thanks from everyone including hugs and tears and big smiles. I am sorry that I don't have a photo to send along but trust me when I tell you...your donations were a HUGE help and a BIG hit. We received donations from approximately 25 families in Highland Park with a vast array of items. All neighbors (SAVE ONE) were kind, and helpful and understanding about pickup times, scheduling, etc. Thank you Highland Park. Thank you Listserve. Thank you Thank you Thank you! [Highland Park] Looking for electric Laz-E-Boy chair

My mother's old electric Laz-E-Boy chair just quit on her and she has become dependent on it to help her get up and down. Does anyone have an old one that they would like to recycle/sell/get rid of? Or any advice on repairing chairs? It is more than 20 years old! Thanks! Maryanne

[Highland Park] Brick Pointing: compilation of recommendations

*As usual, HP neighbors came through with a slew of recommendations, Here they are, in no particular order: ----------------------------------------------------- *I'm not sure about the chimney issue, but I used and was very happy with brick pointing done by Larry Kramer 412-616-3549. He was reasonably priced, easy to deal with, and did very good work on two sides of my house.* * *-----------------------------------------------------* (412) 519-3251 Rich Roth. Used him for years. He's done a lot of wo9rk in the neighborhood. Rough around the edges but does good work. *-----------------------------------------------------* I had Rich Michalek do my two chimneys two years ago. He is a nice guy, and lives in Morningside. He was willing to listen to my request to keep the chimneys just like they were rather than taking them lower. There were a few bricks that had previously fallen off, and he used some I had sitting around in the yard to replace them. He asked me if I was still using the flues, which I am for my furnace and water heater. He told me how to test to see if any of the bricks had fallen inside and were blocking the air flow from the water heater. One thing that he did was to point the chimneys in red mortar, since the rest of my house has red mortar. One of the chimneys had been previously repaired and gray mortar was used. He ground that out so that the entire chimney now has the same mortar. His phone number is 412-363-0588. *-----------------------------------------------------* ** We had Ron Anderson of Anderson Chimney lined our chimney this summer (and pointed our house). Did a nice job, showed up when he said he would, got the job done. I recommend him. Tell him Jean on Greystone says hi.
