The traditional service of Choral Evensong is sung by the Choirs of St. Andrew's Church, Highland Park, on the First Thursday evening of each month, October-May, at 8 p.m., with musical recital, and on the Third Sunday afternoon of each month, September-May, at 4:30 p.m., with Guest Preacher. This Sunday, February 19, at 4:30 p.m., the service will be sung by St. Andrew's Schola Cantorum. The Choir will be directed by Dr. Alastair Stout, with Scholar Jeremy Jelinek as organist. Featured at this service will be the premiere offering of a new Evening Service composed by Dr. Stout, the "St. Andrew's Service." Anthems as well by Sowerby and Joubert. Our Guest Preacher this Sunday will be the Rev. Cynthia Bronson Sweigert, former Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood, and Ecumenical and Interfaith Officer for the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. [Highland Park] basement repair help

Hi, I've written with this request before but I got very few responses, although I did get a lot of emails from neighbors with similar issues. I have an old home (100 + years) with a sandstone foundation. I have a problem with water seeping in through my basement walls. My home and the neighboring one are very close (there's only 3-4 feet between our two homes) and the ground is old brick with moss where the mortar used to be (I've currently got a plastic tarp down to minimize the water seepage). I want to repair this issue but looking at the different options can be a bit overwhelming and I don't know who to trust. I realize putting a sidewallk between mine and the neighboring home (where it grades away from both our homes) can partially solve this water problem. With my previous request I got a recommendation for interior french drains but my concern with this solution is won't water continue to erode the foundation from the exterior of my home?Nothing would be stopping the water damage on the outside. The mortar in certain parts of my foundation is in desperate need of repair. >From what I've read parging isn't recommended for this type of foundation nor is drylock (both merely lock in the moisture and continue to destroy the sandstone). Is there anyone who has experience with a tuck pointer who works on foundations or who can recommend someone that can effectively repair this problem and not merely cover it up? And if you know a concrete person for the sidewalk between the homes or if you think there's another solution? I really appreciate any advice you can give. Thank you! Kim Kenseth

I'm looking for some children's hangers, not the nice ones you buy, but the cheap ones that come from the store with the clothes on. (if that makes sense... then you are a parent and understand what I am asking for). Anyway I need to hang up clothe for a mOPS sale. Hello Highland Park! As some of you may know, we've been working with the City of Pittsburgh to establish an off-leash dog exercise area/dog park in Lawrenceville. This neighborhood amenity will be important not only for the residents of Lawrenceville, but for our sister neighborhoods as well, providing the only outdoor fenced dog run in our area. We've finally gotten all the clearances we need and are raising funds to begin building. To aid us in that effort, we're hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on March 2 in Lawrenceville, and we'd love to have you attend. The details are: The Lawrenceville Gourmet Spaghetti Dinner , sponsored by Lawrenceville United, is set for Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Teamster Temple in Lawrenceville. This annual fund-raising event will benefit the Bernard Dog Run , a community initiative to build an off-leash dog park for the residents of Lawrenceville. Supported by Lawrenceville United and the City of Pittsburgh , the Bernard Dog Run’s final steps toward opening include raising funds to cover necessary site construction and maintenance. The 2012 spaghetti dinner will be held at the Teamster Temple , 4701 Butler Street , from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the evening will include entertainment, raffles and Italian music. Proceeds from the event will also benefit local nonprofit animal resource center, Animal Friends . Advanced tickets are available at Espresso a Mano , Gallery on 43rd Street , Lawrenceville United and online for $11 per person. Tickets bought at the door will be $13 per person, and children under the age of 10 eat free.
