[Highland Park] Burglary on 1300 Block of Sheridan Ave

Neighbors-- We were burglarized Wednesday afternoon about 3:30. First time in 25 years in our house/this neighborhood. The perpetrator smashed in the glass of our den door off our deck, and with shoulder power pushed a locked, chained, warped shut for years door in (now deadbolted!). Promptly went upstairs and took a laptop and its chord/plug. Was in/out in a flash. A walking neighbor saw him, and was vigilant in looking/following until he disappeared from the park into the neighborhood along Bunker Hill. He had even latched the yard gate behind him, was very nonchalant in his behavior, putting his bag down and stopping to stretch near the fountain. White, designer detailed jeans, good shoes, sherpa hat he took off revealing spiky black hair, canvas messenger bag/pack, 30s, ruddy clean shaven face. Let's all of us look out, and look out for each other, especially as the next couple of weeks will bring quieter times with people going away for short or longer family/friends' visits, etc. Avram 412-389-9987

Thanks for the heads up on suspicious people and thefts. I have reported to the US Postmaster and UPS that we have had our mail stolen on numerous occasions over the past 2 month period. I also had UPS deliveries stolen from outside of my door (I live on Sheridan Avenue). Sad that we live in times like these, but please keep posting any incidents so that people stay aware. He is a very friendly black and white, who has visited us often at our home at the bend in the 6300/6400 block of Jackson St. We don't mind his visits, though our cats are not so sure it's ok. [Highland Park] Burglaries on Farragut St.

I just wanted to make everyone aware that my house was burglarized last night, on the 1100 block of Farragut. This happened about 4:30pm yesterday afternoon, right before I came home from work. The burglar kicked in my back door and started gathering things, TV, jewelery etc, but I must have interrupted him so he left my TV wrapped in a plastic bag in the kitchen, but he did get away with some jewely and my Ipad. The police said there have been other robberies happening in the area the past few days, another occurred right down the street on the 1200 block last night also after mine, so they wanted me to post this warning to all Highland Park neighbors. The suspect to watch for has been described as a 30-40 year old white male, short dark hair, medium build, with rosy cheeks. The commander at Zone 5 station said to be on the lookout for anyone with this description. She said to call 911 immediately and report ANYONE suspicious walking around the neighborhood.
