Hello, all! The Pittsburgh Public Market, located in the Produce Terminal Building in the Strip District, between 16th & 17th Streets, would like to invite you and your children to Trick-or-Treat with us on Sunday, October 28th. Our hours are 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. We have over 30 merchants, so there will be lots of goodies for all. Kids (and grown-ups) in costumes will be Ooooooed and Ahhhhed over! As an added bonus, the Animal Rescue League will be there with some kittens, and maybe a dog or two, that would LOVE to go home in your goodie bags! Hope to see you all there! Rachel

[Highland Park] Halloween Parade Reminder & Bad Weather Plan

The Halloween Parade is on rain or shine this Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. If mother nature provides sun, gather around the fountain in Highland Park. If it is raining or has been raining most of the day, please gather at St. Andrew's at the corner of Hampton and Euclid. Enter through the side door on Hampton next to the sanctuary. A special thanks to the kind folks at St. Andrew's for offering their space to us. If there is any question about where to meet, please give me a call at 412-482-2533. [Highland Park] Need help with simple graphic design!

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone would be willing to help me with graphic design. I use a macbook and I need to find a (easy) way to make posters, flyers, etc. I don't need anyone to do it for me but rather teach me a little so I can eventually do it on my own! And I don't want to buy a very expensive program to do that. Maybe we can meet at Tazza D'Oro if someone is willing to help. I can compensate if needed or at least buy coffee! ;-) Thanks in advance! Want to see a really spectacular show within minutes of your home? Legacy Arts Project is hosting Dance Africa at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater Friday, 26 October, and Saturday, 27 October, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for children, $15 for adults in advance, and $20 at the door. A highly talented, very athletic group from Philadelphia, IllStyle and Peace Productions, is performing as well as August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble, Balafon West African Dance Ensemble, and The Legacy Arts Project. Saturday's performance will also include the 6th annual Keepers of the Flame Awards Ceremony honoring Linda Imani Barrett, founder of Legacy Arts Project; Carl Redwood, youth advocate and arts pioneer; and Shabaka Perkins, founder of Sankofa Village for the Arts.

[Highland Park] In need of cleaning help and yard work

I'm looking for someone to come one time towards the end of next week for cleaning help in preparation for a party. I found someone on the list serve once before for a similar day from 9-3pm that was reasonably priced and did a good job, but I misplaced her number. As far as the yard work, I have a garden that needs a serious weeding/fall clean up, a front flower garden, same thing, plus mulch maybe and a yard that needs to be mowed (we do not own a lawn mower) weed whacked and raked. This could be done anytime between now and next Friday. Please send any contact info for people that you would recommend or if you do these type of jobs, contact me directly. I am not interested in using professional maid services that send a team of people. I think that their services are overpriced and it doesn't require four people all day, but one to clean my home. We MUST clear some space in our house. and you can be the winners! Help us in phase 1 of down-sizing. If you are building a library of classic literature, here's your chance - from the Iliad and Odyssey to Dante, Chaucer and Boccaccio, to Stendahl and Stevenson, Steinbeck, Faulkner . and beyond to Asimov, Heinlein, Rand . We want our books to go to a good home. In addition, I have over 200 books just on theology-related matters which I plan on donating to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, but if you have specific interests (a United Methodist seminary student?!), please let me know ASAP. I have two Excel spreadsheets with titles and authors (general and theological) that I can send you - make me an offer on any title. some are $30-$40 purchased for current courses.
