[Highland Park] How to pick out your next computer

I am posting this as I've found out that many people don't know how to pick out their new computer. This might be of help. First you need to figure out what all you intend to do with your new computer. This will help you determine what type of processor you need, the amount of hard drive space, RAM and software your new machine will need. For example if you mainly use your computer to surf the web, do email and to write, an “average” processor is good enough. If you work with a lot of graphic images you might want a more powerful processor. The processor is the most important, yet often is the most overlooked item when you buy a computer. The processor is the "brains" of the computer, which does all the calculations. The RAM is comparable to a legal pad that you do your calculations on. The more RAM, the faster the computer can perform it's calculations. The hard drive is the same as a filing cabinet. It stores every program and file on your computer. Next, NEVER just go to a store and buy a computer. You can save yourself a chunk of change if you see what your options are. On your current machine go to the different stores that sell pc’s and compare. When I help anyone find a new computer I go to bestbuy.com, staples.com, radioshack.com and walmart.com. I look online to see what their weekly specials are and have found customers literally hundreds of dollars in savings. After you pick out your new computer you need to decide what software you need. For example if you had Microsoft Word on your old PC, you'll need to either re-install it on your new computer, or buy a copy so you can do so. Last week I showed a customer a great buy. It had an Intel i3 processor (among the faster processors), six gig of RAM and a terabyte hard drive. It was only 429.00! Save gas and time by browsing online to see what your options are.
