Dear Friends of Scenic Pittsburgh, Thank you to all who supported our efforts in getting the illegal billboard on the Grant Street Parking Garage torn down. (www.post-gazette.com/pg/11232/1168622-53.stm ). Thanks especially to the courageous members of Pittsburgh City Council who risked everything by putting their own pocketbooks and careers on the line to defend the public's right to an open democratic process. The next opportunity to protect our city from the billboard industry is the Public Hearing held at 1:30, Tuesday, September 27 at Council Chambers where you can tell City Council exactly how you feel about billboards in your neighborhood. The billboard industry will line up their allies so we need as many people as we can gather to speak up and defend our beautiful city from the interests who would sell our scenic views to the highest bidder. To register to speak at a City Council Public Hearing you must contact the City Clerk at 412-255-2138. Testimony is limited to three (3) minutes. Again thanks all who helped remove the illegal billboard that made a mockery of the public process. Ordinary citizens can make a difference. Sincerely, Mike Dawida
