[Highland Park] Tree tenders needed to tuck in the new trees for the winter.

To all Highland Parkers (and any one else reading this), You don't have to be a certified tree tender to care about and enjoy the new trees appearing around the neighborhood. In order to ensure that the trees flourish, we like to give them a nice blanket of mulch before winter. Many hands make light work! If you can help out for an hour or two, we'll be working on trees around the Stanton Avenue and N. St. Clair St. area on Oct. 18, 2011; starting at 5:30 p.m. We won't work more than 2 hours, and likely less as it will be dark fairly early. [Highland Park] Ellis Offering Early Childhood Programs for Parents, Children and Educators

I wanted to let everyone know that Ellis is hosting a new series of events this year designed for parents and educators of young children (ages 3 – 5). The “Come Grow With Us” program is FREE and open to the public. www.TheEllisSchool.org/grow. There are 3 main components – 1. Fun Fridays are designed for parents and their young daughters, and are packed with hands-on learning. The first event, Play with Clay, will give participants a chance on the potter’s wheel, led by international clay sculptor, Ceil Sturdevant. This event is coming up on Friday, Oct. 7 at 10:30 am. Other programs include a yoga session with the owner of Amazing Yoga, a program with the Carnegie Science Center, and a cooking program with the chef from Soba! 2. Parent programs bring renowned speakers to Ellis’ campus beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 25th at 7:00 pm with Hedda Sharapan of the Fred Rogers Company who will discuss how to help parents understand how to help their children find healthy ways to manage their anger. 3. Early Childhood Educator Programs are designed for educators of young children. These events begin again with Hedda Sharapan, this time on the topic, “What we can continue to learn from Fred Rogers on Science/Technology/Engineering/Math.
