Hello Neighbors! I just want to thank the gentleman who, with wisdom and compassion went out of his way to help a family in the most difficult situation. After his morning walk around the reservoir Saturday October 1st, my Uncle went to mail a letter at the corner of Bryant and Highland. He had a massive heart attack. The ambulance was called but the "Good Samaritan" thought of this man's family and saw the letter he was going to mail. He looked at the return address on the envelope. *Assuming* this was his address, went to his home to tell someone of My Uncle's situation. He asked the family what hospital he was affiliated with and some how relayed the information so that the ambulance and family all knew to go Shadyside Hospital. Mr. Richard (Dick) Sheffey, the manager and later owner of East Liberty Men's Formal on Highland Ave. did not survive, but his family is eternally grateful to the "Good Samaritan" who went out of his way to inform the family and to give them time to say GOOD BYE to a GREAT MAN! Office of Councilman Patrick Dowd - October 2011 NEWS AND UPDATES Electronic Billboard Legislation Comes to Council About 70 residents and business owners lined up in City Council on Tuesday, September 27, to take their turn at voicing an opinion during a council public hearing about bill number 2011-1916 which seeks to regulate and restrict electronic billboards in the City of Pittsburgh. The legislation would restrict the size and location of billboards and regulate special effects. Tomorrow is the Day of Giving 2011, where The Pittsburgh Foundation will provide matching funds to eligible non-profit organizations for donations made 12:00 am until 11:59:59 pm Eastern Time on Tuesday October 4, 2011. According to www.pittsburghgives.org, only donations made on that day thru MasterCard and Visa, between $25 and $10,000 will be matched. A list of participating organizations is on their website. If you have a non-profit that you like to donate to, Tuesday is the day to do it. Get your credit cards out and go to www.pittsburghgives.org tomorrow. Bob I am sending this out to provide info in a general sense. Many folks have sent info to be sent to the list, but in order to keep the number of emails down, I felt it better to not send out emails for specific organizations.

[Highland Park] Cat collars/Micro chipping

Does anyone have any recommendations for cat collars? Our two cats aren't bothered by wearing them, but within a week or so, they've lost them. They like to go in the backyard but do sometimes venture further when we aren't watching so we're afraid that someone may mistake them as a stray or a run away. Also we would like to get them microchipped. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to go that isn't costly? Thanks!
