Hello everyone. I want to thank those of you that took the time to look in to your past emails and send me the information from Gianna's original email. Below. I also heard from Gianna herself (thanks Gianna! I will be contacting you personally!!) who wrote me the email below below. ha. There were other Highland Parkers who were looking for her information as well. So Gianna...I hope you have the time for us all! Maybe we should think about having a group lesson with Gianna if she would be willing. It may cost us all a little less and take up less of her time but still be a nice income for her. Thoughts? As the Outreach Manager for the Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF) I am so pleased that Councilman, Patrick Dowd and the Pittsburgh City Council will be proclaiming Oct 15 - 23 as Homeless Children's Awareness Week. Last school year 1,700 school-aged children and youth were identified as experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County. HCEF has partnered with 17 agencies that serve families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to provided educational materials and opportunities for children in these shelters www.homelessfund.org so that they can keep up in school with their peers. Homeless Children's Awareness Week events include: Saturday, October 15th: 9:30 AM Stand Up and Run for Homeless ChildrenChallenging 5K Race in Frick Park To participate in the 5K please register with Active.com at the link below. [Highland Park] Fall Leaf Removal Assistance Provided by the City of Pittsburgh

As leaves begin to fall, many residents will begin thinking about how to dispose of the leaves that they rake up. This email is intended to inform you of options available through the City of Pittsburgh. City street cleaning trucks are not intended to and cannot accommodate piles of leaves. Leaves left in the street eventually get washed to the sewer system and can clog catch basins openings and take up space in sewers during rain storms. Leaf Removal Options Provided by the City of Pittsburgh Composting The following composting options can only accommodate green yard debris - leaves, grass, tree trimmings, branches, etc. This does not include stones, dirt, garbage, food waste, etc. Composting - Home pick-up This year, on Saturday, November 12th, the City of Pittsburgh will pick up and compost yard debris collected and put out in the proper manner. Yard debris not meeting the collection guidelines will not be collected. The closest one to District 7 is the East End Center at North Dallas and Hamilton Avenues. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 2pm. This service is free to City residents dropping materials off in a car or SUV - there are new charges for City residents dropping off materials in larger vehicles.
