[Highland Park] Excessive car honking on 6300 block Stanton Ave.

Dear neighbors, Just wanted to once again remind everyone how important it is to note authorities to suspicious and odd behavior. Last night around midnight, a person on the 6300 block of Stanton Ave. started honking their horn excessively--long and loud. After about 5 minutes, I called the police and then went to stand outside and see if they'd stop. Luckily, a neighbor across the road (I couldn't see who it was) went out and yelled at them to stop after they continued for a few more minutes--thank you to this neighbor for your bravery! It was obnoxious and uncalled for. The police arrived within the following 10 minutes after the person finally stopped, and I'm not sure what the result was as I had to go to bed. As much as it appalls me that they were TWO HOURS away from getting to the recent gay bashing incident last Friday, I'm glad they showed up last night anyway. They will not start patrolling this neighborhood more if we don't call and let them know that they're needed. Our long-time dentist unfortunately no longer accepts our insurance. Our insurance has signed us up with Dr Christina R. Schmeler (Shadyside Smiles@ Copleand Ave, Shadyside). Has anyone in the neighborhood any experience with this dentist - good, bad, or indifferent? A number of very worrisome and unflattering reviews of her practice can be found online. July 20, 2010 Dear concerned community member: On July 29, 2010, from 7pm-8:30pm, my office will be hosting a panel discussion at the Teamsters Temple in Lawrenceville regarding Marcellus Shale drilling and its impact on the urban environment. We will be opening our doors at 6:30 for community members and leaders to explore and discover information at a variety of organizational tables that we would like to have in the room. We would be honored if you would attend this special and critical event to learn more about how drilling can impact your community. Marcellus Shale has come to our attention, most recently through indication that some property owners-almost 60 to date-- in District 7 have signed away the mineral rights to their properties to Marcellus Shale drillers in our region. Our office is responding by creating legislation that will respect the rights of property owners and businesses while protecting our valuable City resources including waterways, riverfronts, street infrastructure and the health and well-being of community members.
