To: Leah Pileggi <leahp1(a)gmail.com> Hi, I'm reaching out to everybody to get the word out that the Muscular Dystrophy Association summer camp is in desperate need of counselors for this year's summer camp.They especially need high school or college-aged boys who are interested in helping kids. (This would cover service hours for high school boys.) The camp runs from August 1-7 at Camp Kon-O-Kwee. It would be a week of no pay and no sleep, but it's the one week a year of freedom for kids with muscular dystrophy. Each counselor cares for one camper 24/7 catering to their needs and requests. "Camp's about the campers." These kids look forward to it all year. Right now they are 10 counselors short meaning that 10 potential campers might not get to go to camp. If you know anybody who might be willing to volunteer their time for that week, please let me know. All, Could you be a Highland Park ambassador? Next Sunday, more than a thousand people will be visiting Highland Park in search of bargains and collectibles. Volunteer ambassadors are needed to hand out yard sale listings and provide directions to visitors as they enter and roam the neighborhood. We work in two-hour shifts between the hours of 9am and 1pm, assisting visitors who are excited and appreciative of the volunteer help. Everyone is encouraged participate. It is a good community service project for young teens and an opportunity for parents and their children to work together and show the region what Highland Park community spirit is all about. Get involved, have some fun, and stop by the Bryant Street Festival afterwards to celebrate with the neighborhood. Turns out I'm not the jogger I'd hoped to be! :) It comfortably seats any size child who can sit on his/her own, and also your Graco infant carrier seat will clip into it safely.
