Hello Neighbors, I have several items on my front porch (837 N. Saint Clair Street) that are free for the taking. These items are left over from the yard sale this past Sunday. If you would like any of them, please feel free to take what you want - first come, first served! Items include the following: - 3 small side tables - floor lamp - 2 large table lamps - 13" TV - dog kennel (medium size) - bulletin board - covered litter box - Christmas tree stand - lap tray with legs (for breakfast in bed) - 11" round flush-mount light fixture (new) Sealed boxes on the front porch are being donated to Vietnam Veterans of America so please do not open them (marked with green VVA labels). [Highland Park] recycling cooking oil?

Hello, Does anyone know what to do with a small (non-commercial) amount of used cooking oil? I have ~3 gallons (from a home fryer) of used oil that I need to get rid of. I'd rather take it somewhere to be recycled than just throw it away. thanks, Rachel Kirby

[Highland Park] foster homes for Cairns

Hi, My husband and I do Cairn terrier (Toto) rescue work. There is a great need for foster homes in the northeast part of the country. I thought there might be some neighbors in HP who might be interested in this very rewarding experience. Some of the rescues are from puppymills, owner surrenders and shelters. They can be anywhere from puppy to senior in age and you would be assigned a foster home mentor so you don't have to feel as though you would be doing this without support. [Highland Park] Walk in the Woods - This Wednesday

Neighbors, Come on out for a Walk in the Woods (the park) on Wednesday evening, June 9, 2010 at 6:30pm. We start at the fountain, walk in the woods as much as we can, and end back at the fountain about an hour later. The walk is fun for everyone but keep in mind that paths and steps in the park can be uneven. Also, there's a chance of rain or even storms on Wednesday so at the very least be prepared for a little bit of mud. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen them in Highland Park. I have seen 2 in the past 3 weeks. One was running in the park near the pool and the other was running a couple of nights ago on East Liberty Blvd. I am certain that they were not dogs. In 15 years of living in Highland Park, I have never seen them before. Kate

Do you have scraps of plywood I can salvage? I am looking for scraps of plywood for an art camp. I can use pieces that are as small as 1’ X 1' and as large as can fit in my van. It needs to be at least ¾” thick. Could be painted or plank shelving. Don’t mind a few nail holes.
