West Penn had by far the most referrals and very satisfied customers. The Green Over Green referral came from the owner and CCI had mixed reviews. A disclaimer" I've not had a chance to get the audit done -- surprise plumbing issues postponed and you need to have your last month's gas and electric bills, which I didn't have as I throw away as I pay. West Penn Energy Solutions www.westpennenergysolutions.com Regis McQuaid of Master Remodelers – although when I called them the price for an energy audit was $1500 (triple what most charge) and none of the cost of the audit goes toward the work. Some of you asked for the list of garden centers -- sorry it took so long to get it sent out. I've only visited two -- Reilly's Summer Seat Farm, which was pretty good, and Sestili's in Oakland, which had mostly expensive large plants and a very disappointing selection. 1. I just visited LMS Greenhouse and Nursery two weekends ago. I was very impressed. it is not inexpensive but the plant material was extensive and in good condition. If you go out Middle Road, past the Hartwood Acres performance center, Wagner Road is not too far north of that on the right. The nursery is not even a mile down the road on the right. LMS Greenhouse & Nursery is located a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh PA, next to Hartwood Acres concert area. 3312 Wagner Rd Allison Park PA 15101 2. Trax Farms, about a 50 - 60 minute drive out into the South Hills from here: http://www.traxfarms.com . 3. Michael brothers in russelton- north of harmarville is quite nice I like Glenshaw feed and garden. It is off rte 8. For evergreens of interest and rhododendrons, gala ? On rte 8. I get my annuals from Art King of Harvest valley farms (comes to Monday farmers mkt). I go to his greenhouses. They all could be on a circuit route beginning with Michael bros that has a great selection of perennials and annuals. Then LMS. Then gala and harvest valley and then bakerstown feed and garden which is same as glenshaw but farther away and bigger (same owners) = up rte 8. Then home. 4. [Highland Park] Update on Obama IB at Peabody

Hello Neighbors: If you look at the Post-Gazette today, you will see that the Pittsburgh Public School's Education Committee has recommended closing the current Peabody feeder school and moving the Obama 6-12 International Baccalaureate program to the Peabody facility in the Fall of 2011. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10172/1067092-53.stm Several residents of Highland Park, Stanton Heights, Morningside, Friendship and the West End joined me in signing a letter to the PPS School Board. We presented this to the PPS School Board last Monday - 6/14/10. The letter stated that, if and when the current Peabody feeder school closes, the School Board should move the Obama IB program to the Peabody facility. We also urged the School Board to commission an Obama IB at Peabody Task Force which will facilitate the move and coordinate the efforts of PPS, community organizations and IB families. The School Board may vote on the education committee's recommendation on July 21st. Dave Atkinson Highland Park

Neighbors - Please remember that allowing your dog to be off leash on the sidewalks is not only dangerous to him but it's illegal: http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/pw/html/dog___cat_regulations.html This morning at Heths Playground a large black dog wandered in from the street to the area where I was walking my small dog. Since this dog was unleashed I assumed he'd escaped from a yard. But I was wrong. Soon a couple sauntered in to the park and acted as if it was perfectly OK to allow a dog run around a park (where unpredictable children and other dogs play). It's not OK. You may know your animal, but you do not know mine. DOGS BELONG ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES.

Hi Neighbors, I'm hoping there is someone in the neighborhood who can help me. My siblings and I bought a short wave emergency weather radio for my dad for father's day. He's never used one and is 83. We thought it might be something we could get him interested in. The user's manual is useless so I have taken to the internet to try to learn a little more. There are still a few things I am confused about so I was wondering if there are any neighbors who are well versed in operating short wave radios. Thanks! Christy
