Hey Everyone, I just wanted to say what an amazing group of people you are. I can't tell you how overwhelmed I was by the responses for my new store(100+ & counting). I want everyone to know this is your market, let me know over the next several months what you are looking for and we'll get it. To answer some of the many questions posed, 1- No... we will not be firing the current employees 2- Yes...I am working on an amazing all natural gelato and sorbet program 3- Yes...I am also planning on eventually having a natural meat section 4- If you are a local supplier of something good, please stop by so when can discuss selling your wares 5- No...I am currently not hiring but could be later this year :) 6-Yes...Good cheeses are on the way too 7-No...I won't take away your diet Coke 8-Yes...we will have Brunton dairy milk in the glass bottles(their chocolate milk is just sinful) 9-Yes...we are considering being open until 8 especially for spring, summer, fall Everything right now is on the table, so stop in after Easter and let me know your thoughts. [Highland Park] *Urgent Need - Searching for an Ear Specialist*

Hi Neighbors, I have an elderly mother (95) living at "Sunrise at Fox Chapel", an assisted living center for the mentally impaired, who desperately needs to have wax removed from her ears. In the past I have taken my mother out to see a local Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist. However, she is now physically too frail and her dementia is too advanced to attempt to take her out of the facility to have the treatment she needs. The facility she's living at has been unable to help me and that is why I am now turning to all of you. My mother is now for all intents and purposes deaf due to a build up of wax in her ears, and her quality of life, which was poor to begin with, is now almost non-existent. I have been desperately trying to find a ear specialist who might make a "house call" to perform this service for her. Of course, I would be more than happy to pay any extra fee that a specialist would charge for making a house call. If anyone out there knows someone who could help me with this I would be eternally grateful, and you would be helping to give back the pleasure of hearing to an elderly woman. [Highland Park] Union Project has exciting news and needs your help!

Exciting news to share with you! After two years of having them out, *we are finally ready** to install our choir loft windows* (the ones facing N. Negley). This is only possible with great support and hard work from community members who took classes to restore these windows with their own hands. Now, here are a few opportunities to help get these windows into place and move onto the next phase: 1. We need a few able-bodied people to assist with installation a few evening next week. This will involve lifting windows and being on scaffolding, which takes some guts. Installation begin Monday, March 29 at 4:30pm. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the process of installing and removing stained glass windows as well as to help us out in a huge way. 2. We also need many people to help clean glass Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10. We will be taking out another set of windows that will need lots of loving hands to begin the restoration process. 3. And/or, sign up for the next Stained Glass Restoration Class that begins on April 6!! Hello. Below is a forwarded email from Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary in Delray, WV. It's a three and a half hour drive from Pittsburgh but worth the beautiful drive to this husband and wife's private, no kill shelter. The highlighted email address is the contact info for Carol, one of the owner/operators of the shelter. They do a fantastic job, never turning any dog away. If you're looking to expand your "pack" and you're within reasonable driving distance, please consider this shelter. Olga To: Carol <ahgrr(a)frontiernet.net> Hi Everyone: This has been such a heavy intake week that I thought I'd get this newsletter out in hopes that some of these dogs might find sponsors to help defray their vet bills/boarding bills. We are being hit very hard right now with intakes - - - - and have very few adoptions happening. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. *Blondie* - this poor baby's elderly owner had to leave her at a high kill shelter when he could no longer care for her. She's not even a year old - - - - - - - She is safe now, was spayed and vetted yesterday, and will board until transport is arranged next week. *Blondie* after being hosed down at the shelter - on her way to safety *Zoe* - 11 year old Zoe was "breeding stock", who was kept outside. She and her sister, Crystal, started barking for attention and were dumped at a shelter in S. WV. They are both safe now - will be spayed as soon as the veterinarians can fit them on their schedule, and will board until the beginning of the week, when they will be transported here. *Zoey* - still at the shelter in this picture - but safely boarding now. *Crystal* - Crystal is Zoey's 10 year old "sister". She is also now safely boarding at our vet's awaiting surgery and transport. *Crystal *- now safe in boarding *Patti* - Poor little Patti may have been hit by a car prior to going to the shelter. She has a limp in a rear leg and part of her tail needed to be amputated. She is safe at the shelter awaiting transport. *Patti - *notice the rear leg being held up *Cosby* - Cosby was abandoned at a car wash alongwith another golden we think may have been his Mom. Another rescue rescued his Mom, but Cosby, who may be mixed (with lab? - hard to tell), was left behind. Cosby is now in quarantine at a S. VA vet hospital as he became quite sick after our volunteer pulled him from the shelter. We need help with his vet/boarding bills - - - - - - - we think he will be fine - and will be well enough to travel by next weekend. *Cosby* resting after leaving the shelter. *Carlisle* - no picture yet - is a gorgeous purebred golden boy who ended up in a high kill shelter after his owners abandoned him along a busy roadway. He is safe today - awaiting neuter - and boarding until transport. Sadly, this has been what a typical week here looks like. These dogs desperately need sponsors to help defray some of their vet/boarding bills. I know times are tight for all of us, so if you could just get the word out that we could use come help, we'd appreciate it. Thank you, everyone, for your continued support. East Liberty Farmers’ Market Update A number of new things are happening at the market. Here is an update! Edible Allegheny stopped by recently and wrote a real nice article on the market. The magazine is hitting the streets now. It should be posted to their website soon. Sam Byler from Riverview Dairy will be at the market as usual with his goat cheese. The good news is that Sam is expanding his offerings by bringing in cheese from other local farmers. Last week he started bringing cow’s milk cheese made by Adam Dean on a farm outside of New Castle. The cheese is called Pasture Maid Creamery. Check them out at www.deanfarms.com. Rick from Zang’s Greenhouse just started getting in locally grown micro greens. Slightly tangy, they are a great addition to salads. We just got a fresh shipment of Coffee today from the Kew Park Farm in Jamaica. We will have whole beans as well as brewed coffee available this Saturday. We now have one of those fancy commercial grinders, so we can grind it for you to order. Don’t forget that you can get your holiday meats from J.L. Kennedy Farm. Stop by the market this Saturday or give them a call. Val and John can be reached at 724-898-2316. Hours for order calls are 9 am to 9pm. Orders for Saturday should be called in by 5pm on Thursday. And who can forget about eggs at Easter. Ina from Greenawalt Farm will have that covered.
