Hello neighbors! sorry I do not have a picture to include with this e-mail......but anyone have/own a large gray and white cat (about 15 +lbs); its ears oddly curl back a bit; very affectionate - does the kitty friendly figure 8 around the legs and is very well maintained. .....anyway, it is on our patio tonight, Tues., 12/7 - 9:15pm. It is eating and has water.....mind you there are 2 other cats out there as well - but they have been around for sometime so we know they 'belong' here and have claimed their territory. This gray and white one must have gotten out - I have seen it sporadically meowing for attention and sometimes a snack. Just would like to know it does belong to someone and has a safe/warm home when it chooses to leave our patio. if you can let me know 'it' is yours! Thanks! Sue :)

Sacred Heart Parish Loretta's Christmas Cookie and Candy Walk When: Sunday, December 12, 2010 Time: 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Where: Sacred Heart School Cafeteria 325 Emerson Street Shadyside Over forty different types of cookies, candies, and Christmas treats will be displayed for sale. Buyers will be given a box or boxes to fill with as many different kinds of cookies they would like. The cookies will then be weighed and will sell for $8.00 a pound. Some cookies and candies will be sold for individual prices. Our Chinese Auction will be featuring many exciting items and baskets including beautiful Christmas Centerpieces, gift card baskets, and a Christmas basket, just to name a few.

Allegheny Community Childcare Cooperative:Where enlightened families grow together Are you a self-employed parent seeking an affordable-yet-enriching childcare solution--one that allows you to keep your children close by and still work in peace? Unable to find such a place in Pittsburgh, I decided to create my own solution. A shared childcare cooperative and parenting community center would offer a unique service in the Pittsburgh region. My vision is to create a space where parents (our members) could work uninterrupted while our children play downstairs with like-minded parents in a safe, homelike environment. The Cooperative Space: The cooperative playthings would be designed to inspire imagination; made from natural materials; and emphasize art, music, and dance. Members would share both childcare duties and values aligned to foster creative, positive, and inspired experiences for our children. The workspace would offer members desks, wireless Internet and printer/scanner/fax services in a peaceful space--but not too far away to nurse or comfort our children. How It Works: Members will pay a small monthly fee to cover operational expenses of the co-op. The co-op will plan a schedule for members, trading time spent working with time spent in childcare. Each parent will be responsible for no more than 5 children at one time. Parents would be able to drop off children and leave the facility for up to two hours at one time (ideal for medical appointments or client meetings). The Members: To make this dream a reality, I'll need to find a group of families who share this vision. This is where you come in! [Highland Park] Christmas tree farm suggestion

Hi Neighbors, Our family usually goes and cuts down our own tree, unfortunately this year the farm that we go too is not doing open for tree cutting. Does anyone know of a good farm to recommend for cutting your own tree down? Extra plus if they do wagon rides to the trees and not too pricey :) Thanks And Happy Holidays! Erin Sellner

[Highland Park] Verizon home phone subscribers -having problems?!?!?

Hello neighbors! is or has anyone in the 1200 block of N. Highland and the neighboring streets of Bryant, Hampton and Grafton been having phone problems with incoming and outgoing calls? I am following up for elderly family members who have had issues since last week and when I called Verizon they said it was a 'group problem' meaning more than 6 homes being effected. They said a tech was out and today, 12/7; but our family members are still having the same problem. They have another tech going out on Thurs., 12/9....just checking to see if anyone else has any other information and/or experiencing these problems with their phone service through Verizon. [Highland Park] fabric for room partition

Hi neighbors, I'm trying to make an attractive partition for our living room out of fabric and am looking for some material. A gauzy muslin or even cheesecloth would work well - nothing too heavy or opaque. If anyone has any larger scraps of material I could probably make an interesting patchwork if you're looking to get rid of unused pieces. Thank you! Heather Cramer
