Someone from the Sheraton/Heberton/Callery street area has a radio that is blasting music. I have a small child who is tyring to sleep and I have been forced to shut my windows on the beautiful day. I can't leave my house to investigate and I don't want to call the police. If you are in the area, please mention to them that there is an noise ordinance. Thank you!

This year the program has expanded from a 3-day to a 5-day Summit for 50 African American youth in grades 9-12 who want more out of life than following the crowd and getting by. Youth who seek to Learn, Lead and Achieve and have a desire to stand up and be counted will benefit from a rich curriculum that will teach them the tools they need to be future leaders. The 2009 theme is "Aspire to Greatness." The BMLDI Features: -A faculty of more than 20 successful African American men--from the stage to the board room--who will motivate youth and share their stories; -Interactive group discussions on subjects ranging from "The Importance and Meaning of African American Leadership" to "Personal Accountability," "Community Engagement," and "The Media's Portrayal of African American Manhood;" -Workshops on college and career preparation, core values, teamwork, conflict resolution, and more. The BMLDI will take place on the campus of Robert Morris University from the evening of Sunday June 14 to june19. The cost of the 5 day Summit ($650 per participant) is underwritten through grants and generous in-kind donations and is free to participants. It is a residential program with fun evening activities and entertainment planned for every day. Our neighborhood historian Mike Eversmeyer has just published a great new book, "Pittsburgh 1900-1945," issued by Arcadia Publishing. It has many great photos of the old days in the East End, and is an excellent companion to the 2008 book "Pittsburgh's East Liberty Valley," written by members of the East End/East Liberty Historical Society and published by Arcadia. [Highland Park] mommy and kittens need a home

Hello neighbors, I am fostering a beautiful grey mother cat (about one year old) and her two adorable kittens. They are about four weeks old and will be ready for adoption in a few more weeks. The boy is a grey tabby and white, and the girl is grey and white. They are both very playful and friendly. The mother is very very good around my five year old son. I would love to find a home for these cats before they have to go to the shelter. Please contact me if you have any interest. The adoption must go through Animal Friends. By the time of adoption they will be up to date on all their shots and will be spayed/neutered. My pictures are too big for the list, but I can send them out if you'd like. Thanks. Meg
