[Highland Park] collecting for the Fallen Heroes Fund this weekend

The Olga Watkins Band will be collecting cash and check donations for the Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes Fund during our Saturday show at the 1902 Tavern in Market Square <http://www.barsmart.com/1902tavern> on Saturday, April 11. We send our warmest regards and prayers out to the families, friends and colleagues of the three fallen officers. We will play from 9 to 12 and hope to see you there. We will have a donation box available throughout the evening and strongly encourage donations through the breaks. Olga will give aways CD's and other gifts to the first donors. I am in need of Ivy (preferably no Poison Ivy) for Flowering Cross at St Andrew's. If anyone has Ivy they are planning to clear please let me know at this email address. One of the officers interviewed on t.v. suggested that residents put blue bulbs in their porch lights as a sign of support for the colleagues and families of the officers that were killed in Stanton Heights. We hope other HP neighbors will join us in doing this; you can buy blue lights at Home Depot. Bill Wood and Clare Mundell

Vivian Campbell, a member of St. Andrew's, will be needing to leave her present home in the next two or three months due to the sale of the property, and she is looking for a place in the wider neighborhood. A room with private bath and kitchen privileges or an attic or basement apartment would work best, hopefully near a bus stop. She has her own furniture, but will be putting things in storage anyway, so this could be either a furnished or unfurnished situation. No pets (except fish). An Introduction to Centering Prayer Saturday, April 25th 9 AM - 3 PM In the Parish Hall of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Whether you are new to Centering Prayer or a seasoned practitioner, this workshop will bring you into this prayer of quiet that Father Thomas Keating introduces so well in his book, "Open Mind, Open Heart." Centering Prayer leads us to a prayerful place of resting with God beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. Sponsored by Contemplative Outreach Pittsburgh, the $25 cost covers the workshop, all materials, and six optional follow-up sessions on Wednesday evenings, April 29th, May 6, 13, 20, 27, and June 3 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Notice whether your email address or signature lines contain identifying information (i.e. your last name, any part of your home or work address, phone numbers, etc.). ANYONE can register to receive this email listserv. You are sending this information out to the public at large. It is very easy to perform a reverse search on a name, address, or phone number. A work address or company name leaves you open to being Googled at work, where your employee Bio can reveal information that can allow a good web surfer to uncover your home address. Please do not make yourself vulnerable to being victimized at home. Be safe!!
