The Union Project will be closed from Christmas Eve (December 24) through January 2. Union Station Café will be closed during this time as well, and during the first full week of January for staff training and facilities improvements. Dear Neighbors, I want to thank you all for the wonderful outpouring of offers for a tree for us. You have all been so kind and thoughtful and we feel truly blessed to be thought of by so many people. The kids and I will be picking up out tree at Union Station tomorrow and decorating it this weekend. This will truly be a holiday season that we will always remember! Hello new neighbors. My family and I recently moved to Highland Park and, in the process, were very grateful for an enormous number of cardboard moving boxes that a friend who had also recently moved passed on to me. I would love to pay the favor forward, so please get in touch if you or someone you know is in need of moving boxes. I hate to take this much cardboard in for recycling when I'm sure there is someone who can reuse them.

At St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton Street, Highland Park -- Call 412 661-1245 for more information. Sunday, December 24 [Sunday morning, December 24, is the 4th Sunday of Advent, with Advent Services including the 9 a.m. Service of Holy Communion, in the Chapel, and the 11 a.m. Service of Morning Prayer. The Church School and Youth Groups will not be meeting. An informal "Coffee and Conversation" will convene at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Nursery Care is available for infants and younger children during both services.] The 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Family Service will include the annual Blessing of the Creche, a Homily for Children and Families, Holy Communion, and the singing of familiar Christmas carols. The 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service of Music will feature St. Andrew's Choir, Soloists, and a Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Organist and Choirmaster Peter Luley, singing the Magnificat in D Major, by J.S. Bach. Immediately following, at about 11 p.m., will be the traditional candlelight Christ Mass of Christmas Eve, with Christmas Meditation, Holy Communion, anthems and instrumental music, and the singing of carols. Monday, December 25 The Service for Christmas Morning will be at 10 a.m., with Holy Communion, a brief homily, and the singing of a few familiar carols.
