[Highland Park] Volunteer clean-up of lower portion of the park

Dennis Meyer, coordinator for the City of Pittsburgh's "Partners in Parks" program, is looking for volunteers to help clean up the lower portion of the park near Butler Street and One Wild Place. This is a chance to clean up a part of the park that is visible from the bridge and the area near the Zoo parking lot. Partners in Parks can supply garbage bags, any needed tools, and supplies, and coordination with city crews for removal of large debris. Dennis is looking for as many volunteers as he can get for this volunteer clean-up event to be held on on the morning of either Saturday, November 12th; or Saturday, November 19th. Please let him know if you're interested in helping on one of these days--or perhaps on some other day. This would involve meeting my kids at their school bus (Negley & Hampton) a bit before 4 pm M-F and walking around the corner to our house. [Highland Park] Walk in the Woods in Highland Park

Please join me for a walk in Highland Park on Saturday, November 5, 2005 (yes, that's this Saturday!) starting at 10:30 am at the fountain (Highland Avenue entrance to the park) and ending at around noon. I would like to take us down the new combined hiking/biking trail if you're interested. Keep an eye on the weather report: it might be rainy or cold so dress appropriately. And please note that the time published in the Parks Conservancy newsletter is wrong: we'll definitely be starting the walk at 10:30 am. This walk is the first of the monthly "Walks in the Woods" series in the four major Pittsburgh parks scheduled until the weekly ones continue in May. The next walk in Highland Park will be on Saturday, March 4, 2006. Rudy
