Neighbors, I volunteer at the Humane Society and there are two dogs there who I feel could use some special promotion. The first is Loki. His info can be found here: http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=WPHS.A205074 While I hate seeing all of the dogs cooped up in their kennels, it especially breaks my heart with Loki because he is just so active and so smart. He's going to lose his mind if he's not out of there soon. If there are any young, active, single guys out there reading this, Loki is the dog for you!!!! I say young and active because he would absolutely LOVE to run, hike, camp, bike, or anything else with you. I say single because - trust me on this - he's a babe magnet. Just look at that face. He will get you so much attention from the ladies!!! The second dog is Smiley. His info can be found here: http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=WPHS.A205177 Smiley breaks my heart because...well, just look at him. He's ancient and pathetic and sweet and probably going blind and deaf and he doesn't deserve to spend his remaining time on this earth in a loud, smelly, uncomfortable shelter. And he probably desperately misses his old owner. His paperwork says that his owner got ill and that he was brought in by humane officers. I don't know the details but it was probably an older person who could no longer care for him and the situation probably caught the attention of a concerned neighbor or family member. Now Smiley is in the shelter, and it's unbelievably sad. If you or anybody you know would be willing to take him on as a charity case (and it would be a charity case - he's super sweet, but he can barely walk and he's not going to be around to give you years of love and affection), please, please do so. You would not be making a years-long commitment. You would just be giving a sweet old dog a loving, comfortable home in which to live out the next few months, maybe year tops. Thanks, neighbors. I know I can count on you to spread the word. Emily Nicholson
