Our home was robbed in the middle of the night Friday/Saturday while we were asleep in the house. The losses are significant. When we filed a report, the police confirmed that a robbery with the identical MO occurred a few blocks away on Friday night last week. It appears that the thieves got in through a first floor window we did not know was unlocked. We’d encourage everyone to check that your doors and windows are locked before retiring for the night or leaving home. The Zone 5 police have been very helpful, for which we’re grateful. The officer who helped us said that the repeat and the nature of the crime (robbery while people were at home) means that the charges will be serious when the thieves are caught. He also thinks that these incidents will prompt more patrols in the neighborhood.
