Dear Highland Park residents, My name is Jeffrey Dorsey and I am the new Program Manager at the Union Project (also known as the marathoner who stopped to dance the Conga, or was it the Marengee, on Bryant St. Sunday??? :) Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself. Since I will be attending the HPCC meeting on the 21st at 7PM, I thought I would take this chance to invite you to some of UP's programming taking place this weekend. Friday- UPWORDS FEATURING NOHORONA AND MCDERMOTT – MAY 8 AT 7:30PM UPWords is a monthly reading series held on the 2nd Friday of every month (September thru May) in the Union Project’s Atrium. Doors open at 7pm and event begins at 7:30pm. This free event features both local and nationally-acclaimed writers. Coffee is provided by the Union Project’s Youth Barista Program in concert with Starbucks and snacks are sponsored by Whole Foods. May features Lalita Nahorona and Sharon McDermott. Bios are below. Saturday- STORY TIME AT EAT UP CAFÉ – MOTHER NATURE EDITION – MAY 9TH FROM 10AM-NOON Friends! Come hear stories, have breakfast and plant a flower with your family for Mother’s Day at the Eat UP Café! On May 9th the Union Project will host a Mother Nature themed Story Time in the Café from 10AM-12PM, including outdoor games, paper flower-making, real flower-planting and an omelet bar. Literacy AmeriCorps will lead an interactive story time. There will be story-reading, flower-planting, omelet-eating, sunshine-playing, and mom-thanking. The event is free. Omelet bar is $4. The Friendship Flower and Folk Festival includes a variety of food, vendors, local arts organizations, kids acitvites, and of coarse...flower sales for Mother's Day.
