Responses for Places to View Comet NEOWISE
Hi Everyone, Here are the responses I received regarding places to view Comet NEOWISE, in case anyone else wants to try to see it. Thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry. · There is a celestial observatory area over by Deer Lakes Park. Maybe that would be a good spot? https://3ap.org/ · Easily seen from "Mount Bigelow" in Highland Park, well above the trees. The walk in and out is easy pleasant from Highland. Prodigious Pgh light pollution is relatively dim to the NW (still very urban). Nice binocular view, but dark sky? Not so much. Only major constellations naked eye. Have fun. · Hartwood Acres area. We saw it at the Hampton Community Park in the orchard. · Wagman observatory near Deer Lakes. Parking is a little tricky (on road/not much shoulder) but many other cars were there. The view was great, not much ambient light, & and people kept good distance from each other. I went Saturday night, around 9:15 & saw the comet, Jupiter, Saturn, & the ISS. Best, Rob Nichols
