[Highland Park] Fw: PA Budget approval tomorrow! Save the Film Tax Credit!
A comprehensive study has shown that each $75 million in state film tax credits generates over $300 million in revenue for the region of the state of PA. (It does not all go back to the state government but they do pretty well considering taxes on lodging, dining, etc. generated from the film industry as well as saving unemployment funds by allowing people to work.) At least one major film production has left Philly and laid people off since the recent film tax credit freeze by Corbett, and it is reported that several major movies that were going to come to PA are not planning to with the frozen film tax credit. Jobs and revenue for PA vs. no jobs and no revenue for PA is the issue at hand. FROM LOCAL IATSE 489: Time is running out. Tomorrow, Governor Corbett will present his budget in a televised presentation. It will then head to the House & Senate for debate. It is imperative that each and every member, their friends, neighbors and family, get on the phone & on their e mail and bombard Corbett's office telling him that the PA film tax incentive works. It generates jobs & new revenue for Pennsylvania. We need everyone to do all of the following: 1. Phone and email Corbett's Southwest District office Director. We met with her last week and she told us they are compiling a folder of all correspondence on the PA film tax credit to send directly to Corbett. This is our best bet. Mary Ann Eisenreich GOVERNOR’S SOUTHWEST OFFICE Room 240 301 Fifth Avenue Pittsburgh, Pa 15222 Phone: (412) 565-5700 Fax: (412) 565-2445 meisenreich@state.pa.us 2. Follow up with a call, email & fax if you can to Corbett's office. Governor's Office 225 Main Capitol Building Harrisburg, PA 17120 Phone (717) 787-2500 Fax (717) 772-8284 3. Call and Email your representative's offices. For their contact info use this link: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/ 4. Go to our Capwiz site and send the form letter, add to it if you can, but remember, a one page letter is a more effective letter. Use this link: http://capwiz.com/iatse489/home/ 5. Forward this email to anyone you can think of. The time is now. We have to make sure our 75 million is in the line item. If we loose our tax incentive funding, the industry will be gone from Pennsylvania by the end of the summer. Do not sit back and let this happen. Do not wait for someone else to call. You alone can save your livelihood. Tell Governor Corbett we want Film to continue to thrive in Pennsylvania, keep the $75 million dollars in the budget. IATSE 489
