My children have done all of these programs and have been all over the world! Thanks Cathy Bubash Pittsburgh chapter of CISV has three summer programs we are working to fill. Ages Needed are : Maine village: One more 11 year old girl (the other 3 positions are filled) Guatemala interchange: One 13 or 14 year old Boy (the other 4 positions are filled) Italy summer camp; One 13, 14 or 15 year old boy or girl (the other 3 positions are filled) The Maine Village is a 3 week program with 4 11-year old delegates and an adult leader who will travel to Maine to meet 11 other delegations from around the world for a month. Interchange is a whole-family experience, where a group of delegates from Pittsburgh are each matched with a partner in Guatemala of the same age and gender. This group of children, with an adult leader, host their partners for two weeks this summer (roughly July 1-15, depending on flight arrangements), and then are, in turn, hosted by the Guatemalan delegation for two weeks in Guatemala (roughly July 17-31, depending on flight arrangements). Families participate actively--both by hosting their child's partner, and by organizing several group activities that showcase the resources of our city. It's a great family bonding experience--my own children have done two Interchanges and the experience has brought us closer together as a family and also individually connected us all to the larger world. We have a fantastic leader and several motivated kids and families on board for the Guatemala program, and we're seeking, at the moment, one more boy, age 13-14 (they must be either age for one day between June 1 and Aug 1 this summer) to fill out our delegation. Because this is a global volunteer organization, the cost of our programs is a fraction of what most youth travel programs charge. In addition, partial scholarships are available for families to make them even more affordable.
