Neighbors: Tonight we had a young man who was digging up the grass (with a shovel!!) near the public gardens in the 6300 block of Stanton Ave. to make a "ramp" for his bike. He truly was making a mess of the area. We tried to talk to him to get him to stop tearing up the well-maintained grass. We were both rudely rebuffed, and when he insisted on digging and digging, we called 911. When the Zone 5 police responded, they talked to him for quite a while and he ended up using his shovel to replace some of the grass and dirt that he dug up. The incident ended peacefully and the young man went home with his shovel - hopefully he won't come back and dig again.
