[Highland Park] Blue Dots & HP Trail Development
Everyone, The blue markings are positioned on trees throughout Highland Park. The spots are made with chalk and are easily removed. Evidently, there was a running event yesterday and the course was marked with the blue dots. We were performing trail work in the park yesterday when 40 people ran past us along the blue dot marked trail. Here's more info about the running group: http://pgh-h3.com/wp/ BTW, if anyone is interested in helping out with the development of new trails in HP, there is a workday scheduled on Saturday May 12th from 9:00AM - noon. There will be another announcement with the exact meeting location but it will probably be across the street from the pool entrance. And here I make a rule - a great and interesting story is about everyone, or it will not last. ~John Steinbeck, East of Eden You can't do it all by yourself; all understanding is social, by definition. ~Rick Levine, Cluetrain Manifesto Our trees along the street were recently trimmed near the power lines. Now there is a painted blue spot on one of the trees. A similar spot is on a tree across the street that wasn't trimmed and another spot is on our neighbor's fence which is along an alley. Any ideas what the spots mean? All, I have a large pine tree in my front yard. While a reasonable amount of sap is expected around this time, this year seems to have brought on a lot more sap. My tenants' cars (parked in the driveway) have a lot on them. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this year a one-off? What does one do to reduce the amount of sap or to clean the unfortunate car that is the recipient of said sap? Thanks! Jay. Hi, Did anyone else get the gift of fireworks last night? A cherry bomb and brick of fireworks was set off on my front porch last night around midnight. I was downstairs, so got to the front door fairly quickly, but there was nothing more than a smelly porch full of smoke. We consider ourselves lucky because nothing caught on fire. We called 911 and will follow up with a police report today. Just curious if there were similar occurrences across HP last night. Jack and Liz Buchanan Jackson Street I have strawberries and rasberries to give away. Both are spreading and I don't have enough space for them. Let me know if you'd like some. You can help me dig them up. Irina -- <http://lists.highlandparkpa.com/mailman/listinfo/neighborhood>
