With Thanksgiving in the past, more holidays quickly approaching in the future, and Covid still lingering with us, it’s understandable if you’re feeling squashed, stretched, or stressed. One method I’ve adopted to help deal with stress is by making more time to be grateful. Today I want to express my gratitude to: * Our generous community, including everyone who helped make our Second Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive a success (https://hpccpgh.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ed770e831682d049448ee942c&id=c8dddb4382&e=eb0bdabb3c) ; I feel privileged to be a part of this great community! * The HPCC board and our volunteers for their ongoing commitment of time and energy, given with love, to make our neighborhood special. * My family & friends whose presence in my life is a constant reminder that stress is not the only thing I’m feeling - I also feel lucky and loved, joyful and hopeful. There is so much going on in the coming month - opportunities to give back to the community and celebrate. Read on to learn more. And may your holiday season be full of things to be grateful for. Applications for the 2021-2022 Snow Angels program are open now. This program pairs older adult residents and residents with disabilities with nearby volunteer Snow Angels to help them shovel and salt their sidewalks and property throughout the winter. Snow Angels also make our sidewalks safer for those who are outside during the winter weather – like postal carriers, firefighters, police officers, and other neighbors. ** Many thanks for food donations to Vintage Seniors ------------------------------------------------------------ Highland Park neighbors sent 100 bags of Thanksgiving food to Vintage Seniors, plus $100 in donations toward senior center programming. The center used the monetary donation to fund Pumpkin Pie Day on the Monday before Thanksgiving, and Vintage reports that the seniors were both surprised and delighted by the food donations. Many thanks to everyone who participated!
