I happened across this thread on the Highland Park History site during a random search. I am one of GW Klages' great-children, and I can give you more information about him. G. W. was a machinist who specialized in designing and manufacturing glass-cutting and optical tools. He worked for several Pittsburgh businesses before he opened his own shop. Three of his children followed him into the glass business, one of whom was my grandfather.
The Alan Klages house is definitely connected to GW; several of my relatives, including my grandmother, visited it as family members while Alan Klages was alive. I'm fairly sure that Alan was a nephew of GW's, but I can double-check my family history information.
I'm putting together a book on the Klages family and I'm interested in any information that you might have (that's not from the Historic Pittsburgh site --- I've already scoured that).
Thanks, Kerstin Navik
One of the messages Kerstin found on our site was probably: <http://www.highlandpark.pgh.pa.us/pipermail/history/2004-August/000002.html> Can anyone help Kerstin? (If you can, PLEASE join the Highland Park History group--<http://www.highlandpark.pgh.pa.us/mailman/listinfo/history>) Rudy
