A little background about the JEFF GRUBBS TRIO... Jeff is classical and jazz musician and a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Bass Section. He is going on his 9th season with this prchestra. As a Jazz musician he has played with many well-known musicians as Joe Williams, Joe Lovano, Mel Lewis, Kenny Burrell, Diane Schur, & Nat Adderly. Jeff will be using Pianist Alton Merrell, who is on the piano faculty at Youngstown State University and is a amazing composer and arranger. On drums will be James Johnson III. James and Jeff have been playing together for 3 years now and when they met they had an instant connection. James teaches at the African-American Music Institute in Homewood, which is run by his parents. He is a graduate of CAPA High School and has toured with Pittsburgh native Ahmad Jamal and many others. Together these three musician create a sound that is to be heard. On Sunday the last concert of the ROJ the trio will be playing many originals and jazz standards. They will be playing at the Cleveland Bop Stop on Saturday Aug. 21st as well. Last week we had over 750 people attend the ROJ and we hope to see more next week... Tania Grubbs
