RE: [Highland Park] A friendly warning
Just another update to this - I did reach customer service at Just Energy. They said they DO have door-to-door salesmen who have been promoting their company as part of the offer to switch carriers; though she could not confirm if they are currently dispatched in HP because they do not receive those lists. She said they should have badges though, and part of the pitch IS to ask to see your electric bill to describe your potential savings by switching. It doesn't sound like a rebate though, per se, but rather what you can save if you switch carriers. She said folks are welcome to call their customer service dept to confirm anything while the individuals are at your door (866-587-8674) to confirm anything the person is telling you in their pitch. They told us they were from Just Energy, not Duquesne Lt; but essentially the same message of a rebate FROM Duquesne Lt. They had ID badges, but they were a little confusing in their pitch, and could not leave any information with us, so we were a little suspect of the legitimacy of the company and the supposed rebate. However, looking online, Just Energy is a legit company related to being one of the alternate electric carriers in PA. If the rebate offer is true or not, I can't tell from a quick look at the web site. But will be calling the company to ask/let them know. When I ask him for a badge they show me one from First Energy, and when I asked why is not from Duquesne Light, they said is an affiliate, and keep insisting that they represent Duquesne Light. My thinking is that they use the copy of the bill to change the energy provider to maybe an more expensive/ or bind you in a long contract with cancellation fees. The guys where aggressive when I refused to give them the info. I notified Duquesne Light Company also. Alin
