[Highland Park] Scenic Pittsburgh Taking The Fight To The Suburbs
Dear Defenders of our Scenic Treasures, Scenic Pittsburgh, the only local organization dedicated to preserving the visual character of our region, has released our "Model Sign Ordinance" www.scenicpittsburgh.org/Scenic_Pittsburgh_Model_Ordinance.pdf . This document contains elements of comprehensive sign legislation and is recommended reading for municipalities and townships who want to protect their community's scenic character from unregulated sign proliferation. We would like thank the Tribune Review for reporting on this important issue in Thursday's "Neighborhoods" section www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/pittsburgh/s_753003.html . MARK YOUR CALENDARS !!!!!!! The long awaited Pittsburgh City Council Public Hearing about the proposed electronic billboard ordinance is scheduled for 1:30 PM, September 27 in City Council Chambers. This is your chance to tell City Council exactly how you feel about billboards in our most-livable city. To speak at a City Council Public Hearing you must contact the City Clerk at 412-255-2138. Testimony is limited to three (3) minutes. If you do not register in advance, you can address Council after the list of registered speakers has been exhausted. Speakers are taken in the order they register so call soon to testify early in what will be a long day. Over the next few weeks, Mike and I will strive to keep you informed of developments and the facts about this legislation that will affect the skyline and scenic views of our city for many, many years to come. Sincerely, Dave Demko 412-488-7490 x234
