Local teen-ager, Argena Olivis, and CONTACT Pittsburgh program director, Christy Stuber, will be the Kiwanis Club of East Liberty speakers this Thursday, August 31 at the Union Project cafe. Please join us for this interesting program from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. Everyone is welcome! Peabody High School student,Argena Olivis attended the HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth) leadership training conference this summer <http://www.hoby.org/> and will be speaking about her experience. She is the first student from Peabody who has attended this incredible event. Christy Stuber from CONTACT Pittsburgh will outline the lifesaving work of the dedicated volunteers and staff of this outstanding crisis and suicide hotline, which provides immediate emotional support to those in crisis. Did you know that, in the United States, more people die by suicide each year than by homicide? Experts believe that most suicidal individuals do not want to die. They just want to end the pain they are experiencing. When suicidal intent or risk is detected early, lives can be saved. National Suicide Prevention Week will be September 10 through September 16! The Union Project is on the corner of Stanton and N. Negley. For more information or directions please contact Susy Robison at 412-392-4839 or <srobison@pittsburghsymphony.org>
